The church of Corinth had been greatly fitted by the Lord for service. From a distance, she was admired but up close, a different picture was evident. It was time for her to take inventory and look in the mirror.
Everything is spiritual and only the Spirit filled person can discern and understand spiritual things.
Now if we’re going to light up and salt down the world, show compassion on the suffering, learn humility, walk in purity, and on top of that, judge properly it behooves us to cry out to God for grace and power to do so. And we need to be, like the Bereans, diligently searching the Scriptures daily to find out what is so.
If it is true that God has a perfect plan for our lives, then how do we know what it is? With so much confusion concerning knowing God's will, how do we seek to understand it and obey? Listen as pastor Jody Sledge teaches what the Bible has to say about God's will and how we seek know it and walk in it.
Scripture: 1 Samuel 2:26, 3:1-21; Matthew 28:16-20 The basics of determining the will of God. The session is trying to discern what God wants this church to look like in seven years. There are a couple of boundaries for discerning the will of God: The Kingdom of God is at hand. That we are committed to the coming Kingdom of God. That we are committed to bringing the light of the Gospel to the world. Once we discern that direction, then invest our resources to that direction and goal. Are we committed to God's way and not our way? How do you discover God's will?
Pray for a dynamic spiritual life. Pray that God would dominate your heart, attitude, and conduct. Pray that the Holy Spirit would provide discernment.
