Sermons About Disciple
Disciplemaking: Living the Jesus Way
Pastor Larry shares a third pathway of an intimate walk with Christ, that of being a disciplemaker. To be an disciplemaker one needs to first be a disciple. (As you listen to this message, part of the conclusion was lost in the recording. We appologize in advance, and hope that the message notes will help you.)

Last Words (Mark 16:9-20)
Jesus commands his disciples, and by extension his church, to preach the gospel to all nations, making and baptizing disciples. We preach the gospel, not to be intolerant or disrespectful, but out of love for others and because our Lord and Savior has commanded us to do so. He promises to pour out his Holy Spirit on us to empower us to preach the gospel and to care for one another. And in his ascension, he proves that he has completed everything necessary to satisfy God's justice, secure our acceptance before God, and provide for our every need. We belong to him!

The Greatest of All (Mark 9:33-50)
Because Christ is lord over all things, following Christ requires change in every area of our lives. In particular, we see in this passage that Christ's lordship changes how we think of ourselves, how we think of and serve one another, and how we battle sin. And because of his sacrifice and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to grow in living out these changed lives.

Lord of the Storm
In this remarkable story, Jesus leads his disciples to the brink of death before powerfully rescuing them from the raging storm. Though the disciples question both his power and his care for them, Jesus wants to know why they refuse to believe that his power and his care are infinite. Maturity as a disciple of Jesus means coming to the place where Jesus is enough for us.

The Demands of Discipleship (Mark 6:7-56)
Grasping the majesty of Jesus Christ creates faith that springs into action: our seeing Christ produces faith in Christ, which produces obedience to Christ. We see the calling and service that we are summoned to as disciples; we see the great personal cost that discipleship requires -- laying down our lives -- and we are provoked to discipleship and service by compassion and gratitude rooted in the cross.

Deliverance from Our Second Guessing
Part 3 "Deliverance from Our Second-guessing" John 20:19-31 Deliverance from second-guessing the claims of Jesus demands that we: 1. DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH A DISCIPLE WHO DOUBTED. THOMAS WAS: * A FISHERMAN (John 21:1-3) * A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST (Luke 6:13-16) * FOCUSED ON FINDING ANSWERS (John 14:5) 2. DEFEND AGAINST THE RISKS SURROUNDING THE DOWNWARD OF SPIRAL DOUBT. DOUBT LEADS US DOWN THE PATH OF: * DESERTION (v.19) * DELAY (v. 24) * DENIAL (v.25a) * DEMAND (v.25b) 3. DEEPEN OUR RESOLVE TO DISARM THE DOUBTS OF LIFE. DOUBT IS DISARMED BY: * DRAWING CLOSE TO JESUS (v.26) * BELIEVING THE DEMONSTRATIONS GIVEN TO US. (v. 27) * DECLARING OUR ALLEGIANCE TO GOD. (vv. 28-29) * DEVOTING OURSELVES TO THE WORD OF GOD. (vv. 30-31)
