Sermons About Discipline
Portrait of Devotion and Grace (Psalm 119:145-152)
A vital spiritual life with the living God ultimately depends on only two key components: A Devoted Servant and a Gracious God. Devotion implies the discipline of the prayer and the study of the Word. Grace reminds us that it is the infinite grace of God that both infuses and energizes the spiritual life of His children.

Responding When Life Doesn't Make Sense (Habakkuk)
Israel is suffering and Habakkuk brings a complaint to God. God reveals to Habakkuk that he is planning to bring further discipline on Israel, and Habakkuk complains again to God. God shows Habakkuk that he is doing things greater than Habakkuk can see or understand. In response to this reminder of God's greatness and glory, Habakkuk humbles himself in prayer to God, by waiting on God, and rejoicing in God through faith in God's goodness and promises.

Gear for the Journey: Celebration
Part 8 of 8. Easter Sunday. Easter gives us reason to celebrate. Even in difficult, stressful times like these, the empty tomb reminds us that NOTHING - not our finances, strained relationships, illnesses, jobs, or even our deaths - have control over us. Every day should be a celebration because of the Resurrection.

Gear for the Journey: Solitude
Part 7 of 8. Maundy Thursday Service. Jesus and his disciples went to the garden to pray and keep watch. Keeping watch is essentially praying with one eye on God and the other on the world to see what God will do next. This is where the practice of solitude comes in. We have to learn to shut off distractions, internal and external, in order to "keep watch" and see how God is working around us.

Gear for the Journey: Worship and Confession
Part 6 of 8. (Palm Sunday Celebration) True worship is about doxology (in latin, it means the spoken or sung praise of God). When we begin with introspection, we come to the need for confession and forgiveness. When we find that forgiveness readily available, how can we help but be moved to doxology?

Freedom-Faith Relationships - Galatians #13
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.
