Freedom from Nationalism
There are over 190 independent countries in our world. Each of these countries has its own land, its own government, its own culture, and its own national interests. Throughout human history these national distinctions have served to divide human beings and breed hostilities between the people of one nation and the people of another. This is largely due to what is called "nationalism" - excessive patriotism or the policy of asserting the interests of one's own nation without respect to the interests of other nations. By its very nature, nationalism divides. One need not look far to see that nationalism is alive and well in our modern world and that it is dividing humanity into mutually exclusive camps. Is there any hope for peace? Any hope for unity? Any hope to break free from nationalism? Listen in as we read through Paul's ancient letter to the churches he founded in Galatia and see how he addressed the problem of nationalism.
