Membership is a covenant between members to encourage, equip, rebuke, and admonish one another to believe the Gospel. Members of a church have certain responsibilities toward and for each other. This second part of the Membership series covers what members must do in order for the church to function as the body of Christ.
At Ardent Church, we take membership seriously. Membership in the local church is connecting with God's people around a common mission of making disciples to the glory of God. The leadership of the church covenants to love the church well by teaching the Bible and leading the church on mission.

Most of us would scoff at the idea that we were false teachers. Maybe we're not teachers at all. Yet, Peter focuses more on the lives of the false teachers than on their doctrine. We must take a look in the mirror. Are we LIVING like a false teacher? Are we influencing others away from Christ?

Mature Christians should be able to acknowledge that they do not know Christ perfectly yet, either in their understanding of doctrine or in living out consistent holy lives. Yet we are called to pursue and strive to know Christ perfectly day-by-day, with the understanding that we will fully know Him when we are taken to be with Him in glory.
