Gideon: Mighty man of valor
Summary: Gideon was a man called of God to do great things. He thought so little of himself, and was so filled with doubt and unbelief, but God was patient with him. He was still them man for the job, in spite of his weaknesses. God had a big plan, that he accomplished through a small group of men. (their army went from 22,000 to 300) God had a specific plan that they had to follow in order to be victorious. Ultimately, because he obeyed the plan God gave him, he became what God knew he was all along, the “Mighty Man of Valor”. If we will obey God like Gideon did, even when the plan sounds crazy, we will become what God desires and sees us as already.

Have It Your Way?
We live in a Burger King world. We are used to having it our way. Unfortunately, this has spilled over into our faith life. Many have been tempted to custom build their own unique faith and values. We are not the first to have tried this. Israel tried it many times throughout their history. It never worked. It won't work for us either. Key Verses: Jer 2:10-17, John 14:6, Phlp 2:21, 4:12-17, 1Thes 4:1-8, Acts 17:16, Acts 20:17-24

Do the Math
Math is one of the most useful ideas ever conceived by man. At its core, it is logic that cannot be denied. An undeniable math runs even through the spiritual realm: we will all die and the world as we know it will pass away. Then, we will either cease to exist or we will stand before God. Which is it and how should we live? You do the math. Key Verses: Isa 51:6, 2Pet 3:10ff, 2Cor 5:10, Heb 9:27, Joh 20:19-25, 2Kings 7

John the baptist
Unfortunately the recording quality is very poor and part of the beginning is cut off. The evening was begun by asking the students to write down 5 short phrases to describe Jesus, then a clip from The Truman Show was played in which Truman begins to realize his life is not what he thought and his wife is merely an actress.
The teaching centers around Matthew 11 when John the Baptist wonders if he really knows who Jesus is, and the struggles we may face to know who Jesus is and our tendencies to shape him into our image.

Deliverance from Our Second Guessing
Part 3 "Deliverance from Our Second-guessing" John 20:19-31 Deliverance from second-guessing the claims of Jesus demands that we: 1. DEVELOP A RELATIONSHIP WITH A DISCIPLE WHO DOUBTED. THOMAS WAS: * A FISHERMAN (John 21:1-3) * A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST (Luke 6:13-16) * FOCUSED ON FINDING ANSWERS (John 14:5) 2. DEFEND AGAINST THE RISKS SURROUNDING THE DOWNWARD OF SPIRAL DOUBT. DOUBT LEADS US DOWN THE PATH OF: * DESERTION (v.19) * DELAY (v. 24) * DENIAL (v.25a) * DEMAND (v.25b) 3. DEEPEN OUR RESOLVE TO DISARM THE DOUBTS OF LIFE. DOUBT IS DISARMED BY: * DRAWING CLOSE TO JESUS (v.26) * BELIEVING THE DEMONSTRATIONS GIVEN TO US. (v. 27) * DECLARING OUR ALLEGIANCE TO GOD. (vv. 28-29) * DEVOTING OURSELVES TO THE WORD OF GOD. (vv. 30-31)
