Sermons About Elders
Shepherds for the Sojourn
1. To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2. Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3. not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 5. Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 6. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Sacred Life: Titus 1.5-9, 15-16
Purity is not regarded today as a highly sought quality. So it was in the church in Crete. The churches throughout Crete were lacking in the area of purity from its members to even those given the platform to teach. The culture was polluting and contaminating the church. The church was lacking purity of doctrine and purity in living. Such purity is needed from the leaders of the church and throughout the church.

Elders, Our Shepherds
Our desire is that every member advances in their journey as a Biblical servant leader by realizing and fulfilling God’s calling in their life in the church and community. This will only happen as grasp what the Bible has to say about the nature and scope of the of servant leaders within the church. Over the next four weeks, we will examine the leadership structure that is outlined in the New Testament for the church and how that works itself out here at Harvest Pointe. Ultimately, our hope is for everyone to realize that they are called by God, from the moment of salvation, to play their part in our combined efforts to fulfill the Great Commission and Great Commandment as a church.

Sacred Life: Titus 1.5-6
In Paul's letter written to Titus one sees life. In fact, a sacred and holy life for a different kind of people, the church. The mission of the church is to be about making things right in a world that is wrong. Things need to be set in order. This week Paul tells Titus to start at the top. Leadership is everything. With Christ as the head leadership is crucial to the church. We need godly influence in the church. This week we will see what that influence is to look like. We all need this model and must follow it.

I Became the Shepherd - Zechariah 11
God loves His sheep; but do His sheep love Him? Will they ever love Him? Zechariah is charged with a task of shepherding the flock of the returning remnant. He has plans to prosper them and to defend them -- but the sheep rebel, and the other shepherds don't appreciate him. Will there ever be a day when Israel follows the voice of their true shepherd? Yes! But the true shepherd must first lay down his life for them. Not simply to protect the sheep from wolves; but also from the just judgment of God that they so deserve!
