Sermons About Endurance
Your Year For God's Kingdom
As we consider resolutions and goals for 2009, we are struck with the guilt of failed past resolutions and the inner desire to see that we are growing. The key is to make goals and resolutions that you know God will bless. Jesus’ ministry gives us two resolutions that we all should have for 2009. Plus, it shows us how we can ensure that our progress in these resolutions will last.

Another Call to Endurance
1. We are to prop up or support what is weak. 2. We are to live in a manner that promotes holiness. One of the fantastic truths of the Christian life is that we need the Lord. He is our strength and our shield. But another truth is that we need each other. And the Lord has designed the Christian life this way. There are no Lone Ranger Christians. I need all of you in order to live and endure in the Christian life and you all need me and each other. We do not run this race alone.

Hold Fast
Paul is in the worst prison in the world, a place where people go to die or be killed, and he is writing to his apprentice to encourage Him to stay the course!

Waiting in Hope as People of Hope (Isaiah 6:8 Luke 1:30-38)
Taking a look at Isaiah and Mary as servants of God who waited with great expectation and hope of a Messiah. Isaiah spoke of the Messiah as Mary carried and gave birth to the Messiah. Both had hope through hearing God's voice, through being obedient and through having enduring faith. We can also have the same hope as Mary and Isaiah. A hope that endures with great expectations of something good that must come.

The Sanctification of our Affliction
The reason I am preaching this passage this morning is so we can come to appreciate and sanctify our affliction that the Lord gives us as we run the race set before us with endurance. From our text, Hebrews 12:5-11, we need to see two very important biblical facts concerning the discipline of the Lord that we need to understand. 1. We must understand that discipline is a fact of the Christian life. 2. We must understand that sanctified affliction brings forth the fruit of discipline.

A Proper Perspective on Affliction
From our text this morning, Hebrews 12:2-4, I want you to see three truths about the Lord Jesus Christ that we are to consider when enduring affliction. 1. We are to consider that Jesus is the exemplar of our faith. 2. We are to consider that Jesus endured greater affliction than us. 3. We are to consider Jesus' present position.

Running the Race
This morning from our text, Hebrews 12:1-2, I want you to see the two commands that the Lord has given us for running this race that has been set before us. 1. We are to lay aside anything that hinders us from running the race. 2. We are to run this race with endurance to the very end.

Trust the Lord and Do Good (1 Samuel 18 - 31)
What do we do when things don't go the way we thought or hoped? The life of David is a wonderful example. David was very successful. He was anointed king of Israel, had great success in battle, had strong friendships, married the king's daughter, and was loved by the entire nation. But Saul was jealous and afraid of David, and set out to kill him. When the "good life" turned bad, how did David respond? Notice what was absent from David's response. There was no complaining or demanding of explanation. David didn't take matters into his own hands when he had an opportunity to kill Saul. David wasn't self-centered, but showed concern for others. What did David do? He strengthened himself in the Lord, inquired of the Lord before acting, trusted the Lord and did good.
