Sermons About Enemy
Nehemiah #11 - Seeing the Work Through to the End- No Compromise
Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem to find that Eliashib, the high priest, has given a room to Tobiah, the Ammonite. Other problems Nehemiah faced were an assortment of foreign wives married into God's family. Nehemiah demonstrates a "no compromise" attitude toward all these violations of God's law.

Kingdom Demands for Love: Part 3 (AM)
Adam continues through the Sermon on the Mount (5:43-48). Jesus' demands for love far surpassed the demands of Jewish culture then and the natural ability of our hearts now. Only the Gospel of grace can enable us to meet God's standard of perfection.

Can You See the Father in Me?
The text we come to this weekend may well be the most controversial portion of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. It is a section that has intrigued people for centuries, has drawn some to the teachings of Christ, and has pushed others away. Great leaders, both Christian and “non”, have built their philosophies of peaceful non-resistance on this text. Our Anabaptist heritage is firmly rooted in the concepts Jesus teaches here. How do you respond when you have been injured by another? There may be no more powerful expression of the “family heritage” that runs in the DNA of the child of God, than in looking at our willingness to forgive others when we have been personally wronged. It is also one of the most difficult principles to live out! Key Passages: Matthew 5:16 & Matthew 5:38-48

Supernatural: Spiritual Warfare
We are not alone, and what we see is not all there is. In fact, God says we have an enemy who we are at war against. God tells us who he is, how he will attack, and how we can fight well

Speak to the mountain
Summary: Our words are what we use to attack the enemy. When we say what God says to our enemies, it’s like shooting bullets at them. When we talk the problem, it’s like throwing cookies at them. Our words are the bullet, our mouth is the gun, but love is the firing pin. We have got to get God’s word in our mouth and fire at the enemy that’s standing in our way. We have to speak to the mountain. Don’t ask God to do anything about it, stop crying about it. Stop talking about how big it is, stop telling everyone you meet that will listen to you how big it is, and speak to it. Command it to go!

2 Samuel 10 - Dealing with Foreign Folly
2 Samuel 10 falls between some of the greatest Stories of David's life - his kindness shown to Mephibosheth (Jonathan's son) and David's adultery with Bathsheba. In chapter 10 the narrative is a highlight of battles with the Ammonites. David sends an envoy to the Ammonite King express condolences for the death of King Hanun's Father Nahash, whose army had been defeated by Saul in 1 Samuel 11. David must have had some reason for showing loyality (such as covenant made). King Hanun regests David's good will and tries to fight Israel but with no success. If fact Israel's commanders - brothers Joab and Abishai were much more humble in their strategy and saw the Ammonites flee before them. This passages shows our redemption in that we reject the gracious offer of God because we are actually enemies of God like the Ammonites. Winning the battle in ourlives is only found in accepting God's way of salvation. When we reject God's gracious offere we prove incapable of saving ourselves. All our own efforts to save ourselves are futule. Only in Chirst Jesus is there salvation for anyone. May we see that unlike the Ammonites we need to humble ourselves and trust in Jesus and his death for the payment for our sins. For Christians we need to be humble enought (like Joab) to say in our hearts "may the LORD do what seems good to Him" rather than asking God to do what we want all the time. This is the essence of saving faith that endures the difficult times in living.

2 Samuel 9 - Covenant Kindness
It is easy to be two-faced in our socieity today. It is easy to forget (on purpose) promices that are made because our circumstances change and it is to our advantage to forget promices when we think there are no bad consequences. This is the position David was in, but David made sure that he fulfilled his coveant with Jonathan by showing kindness to Mephibosheth. Normally kings and leaders would eleminate any leaders or family of a former rival kingdom, and thus Mephibosheth had something to fear in coming into King David's presence. But David in the all important verse 7 shows a coveant kingdness that not only protects Mephibosheth's live but provides for him in land and food and gives a great position (eating at the kings table). today We understand from David's covenant with Jonathan that God's covenant with us provides benefits in we can have security in living, abundance in living, and dependence in living. We are totally dependent on the covenant Kindness of God in providing our security in salvation from sin. Since we are sinners we are actually an enemy of God and lame in our spiritual ability to save ourselves. God saves those like Mephibosheth that do not rely on their own reasources but trust in God's covenant with us.
