If we as Christians are truly free from condemnation & judgment, then does that mean we can live any way we want without fear of retribution? What is the motivation to obey God if this is true?
Pharaoh’s hard heart of defiance, exploitation, and his own enslavement to control is branded by his self-justifying question, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice . . .?” His escalation of enslavement of an oppressed people is a telling image of the manner in which we ourselves are enslaved to impossible expectations that drive us to endlessly gather up “straw” off of the ground in our lives. That’s a hard way to live.

Happiness and fulfillment are bound up in the very person of Jesus Christ; therefore, happiness and fulfillment require a true relationship with Jesus Christ who, in His very person, eternally and completely satisfies our deepest longings.
