Many of us spend the majority of our time pursuing the American Dream. That is the opposite of what Jesus tells us. See Matthew 6:19-24 1. Don't make your focus the accumulation of things 2. Make eternal investments (in people) 3. Honestly examine what you value most. You cannot serve both God and money.
The way the Bible uses the word hope is much different from how most people use the term in our day.
