The reality of the resurrection makes the unreal possible.
One day in the Garden, Satan the serpent slithers into this scene and seeks to seduce Eve. As the serpent dialogues with Eve and brings doubt into her mind, where is God? If you believe He’s omnipresent and sovereign, He’s right there, even as Satan sets the trap. So too, God remains the same immense size despite the extent of your own personal struggle and despite your own momentary deletion of Him from the equation of life. But is that truth one you are truly embracing?
The Gospel account of Jesus' closest followers reveals to us that they did not believe in the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught this repeatedly while He was with them. His enemies heard what He claimed and they even set a watch to make sure nothing went wrong. But the events of that first Easter Sunday demonstrate to us that the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ was just about the furthest thing from His disciples minds. It took some convincing, but when they finally were convinced, the reality of the resurrection changed their lives. And not only did it change their lives, but it will change your life as well.
Jesus' disciples' disappointment over His death has much to teach us about how we need to handle our own times of doubt, darkness and disappointment. His resurrection has much to encourage us in those time.
