Sermons About Faith
John 7:1-20 - The Shame of the Spotlight
Jesus' brothers wanted Him to go up to the feast to show off His powers and become popular. Jesus understood that popularity could be a fickle and shameful thing, and He went up in God's time to speak God's words. We should likewise use any attention that we garner not to bolster our own image but to share the Gospel regardless of public opinion.

John 6:1-71 - Hard Teachings and the Miracle of Faith
Jesus confronted the people who were following Him for selfish reasons about the need for faith. He didn't shirk from teaching hard truths because He had faith in God's power to draw people to faith in Him, and we are to share the truth of His Word with boldness in His example.

John 5:1-42 - A Sign Goes Unheeded
Jesus demonstrated His power as the Messiah by healing a lame man who had been crippled for thirty-eight years, but the man and the religious authorities were too wrapped up in following their unnecessary human rules that they completely missed the sign that the One they had read about and been waiting for had come.

John 4:43-54 - Signs Only Work If You Follow Them
Some people saw the miraculous signs that Jesus performed and saw that He was the Messiah, while others ignored them, causing them to miss out on the new life offered by Christ. Today God gives us warnings and shows us signs through the Bible, and we have a gracious but limited amount of chances to heed them, repent of our sins, and turn to Christ.

John 4:1-42 - The Outcast Revival
The Samaritan woman that Jesus talked to at the well was an outcast in a society of outcasts yet she was transformed by Christ and used to start a revival in her town. In the same way Jesus can use walking disasters like us to work in people's lives if we are simply willing to share the truth about Christ and how He has changed our lives.

John 4:23-24 - True Worship
Jesus calls us to worship the Father in spirit and in truth. Worship is not merely singing in church on Sunday morning but daily denying ourselves and presenting our lives as a living sacrifice to God. As we think about all of the ways that God has been merciful to us it motivates us give up our lives, time, and talents for His praise and His glory.

John 3:27-36 - The Significance of Mission
While baptism is an important event in Christianity the details surrounding it can become the source of a great deal of controversy. As a church it is important that we don't get so bogged down in theological minutiae that we forget about the mission that we are on. This mission is to bring the good news about Jesus Christ to people who don't know Him by sharing our faith and living changed lives that demonstrate His influence as He must become greater and we must become less.

John 3:22-36 - The Significance of Water
Baptism is an important event in Christianity and it has been the subject of controversy throughout the ages. It is an act of publicly identifying yourself with Jesus as the Messiah, humbly declaring yourself to be dead to your old, empty way of life and that you are now born into a new life with Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

John 3:16-21 - The Heart of the Matter
God sent His Son into the world to save us from being exiled from God by our pride and sinfulness. The light of this truth exposes our need, and if we love our pride and sin more than God we will reject the truth and run into the darkness so that we can keep on sinning and protect our sense of self-righteousness, causing us to become warped and delusional. Only through humility and owning our sin can we accept the truth and walk into the light of Jesus Christ.
