Sermons About Father
Dealing with Misplaced Trusts
Let's face it, sometimes we would rather do things our way than enter into the process of realigning our desires to match God’s desires. In this sermon, we will look at the lives of four people who prefer to trust their senses, their appetites, their instincts, and their advisors to trusting God. Let's take a peek into their lives so that we may learn about our own.

Seeing Beyond the Moment
When we face important decisions, we often get fixated on momentary satisfaction or pleasure and miss out on God's best. Looking at the lives of Jacob and Esau, we see that our way often seems best at the time but rarely brings lasting satisfaction. If we are going to thrive in our spiritual journey, we must start by acknowledging that God’s way is better than our way.

The Romans: A Work of God (Romans 1:7-15)
Paul concludes his introduction to Romans with a more personal note. He reminds the Romans that they are loved by God and called by God -- that God's claim on their lives and His grace to them is their fundamental reality. Paul gives thanks to God for the Romans and their faith, reminding them that all they have is from God. Lastly, Paul communicates his longing to see the Romans and share in God's work among them. Paul is aware that God's claim on his life gives him the privilege and responsibility of preaching that gospel to the lost.

"Wait 'til Your Father Comes Home" A Lesson on the Wrath of God
Part 10 "Wait 'til your Father Comes Home" Romans 1:18-19 As we look at this weighty scripture, we should give attention to: 1. Contemporary preachers' fear of preaching this truth. We must speak of this truth because: * The Bible proclaims it. * It teaches us about our greatest problem. * It gives us a proper view of God. * It gives us a passion for the gospel. 2. A proper understanding of the facts surrounding this truth. The Bible speaks about: * The characteristics of this wrath. * The consistency of this wrath. * The categories of this wrath. * The course of this wrath. 3. The primary focus of this wrath. God's wrath is being revealed because of humanity's: * Ungodliness * Unrighteousness * Unwillingness 4. The perfect formula for turning away this wrath. This biblical formula involves: * Examining your life. * Making every effort to know God. Allowing your life to be an evidence of God's grace.

The Prodigal God
Dr. Coffield would like to suggest that a more fitting title for the story of the prodigal son would be "The Prodigal God". The word prodigal means lavish, extravagant and "over the top". The person who appears to take over the story with their lavish and extravagant behavior is not the son, but the father. This story, in the midst of that culture would have broken many social norms, but the father's love went beyond that.

The Father Knows
In a culture in which is so easy to lose your soul, to throw it away, what Jesus gives us in the Lord's prayer is not only a way to pray but a way to find our souls, to find life and to live it. Now, before Jesus teaches us this prayer it seems there is at least one thing he wants us to get straight first. Before we pray we have to understand the heartbeat of prayer is the Fatherhood of God.
