9-27-09 Galatians 3:8-13
(Galatians 3:8 KJV) And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. (Galatians 3:9 KJV) So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. (Galatians 3:10 KJV) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. (Galatians 3:11 KJV) But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. (Galatians 3:12 KJV) And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. (Galatians 3:13 KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Jesus - A Very Special Child
Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like as a baby or a small child? Most of us have. Although there isn't a lot of information for us to go by, God gave us what He wanted us to know, and that is Jesus was a very special child. In Luke 2, Jesus was shown to be a child of promise and salvation for all people, as Simeon prophesied. He was also shown to be a child of division and pain and a child of wisdom and grace. Most importantly, he was a child of God in a very unique way. He called God, "My Father." No one up until that point called God, "Father." Jesus knew who he was and who his Father was.

Romans 7:7-13 Our Sin and the Law
This week we are going to learn that the law opens our eyes to our sins, but the law is good and just and holy. Last week Paul used the analogy that before a person is saved he is married to sin, that is married to Satan. But, once we are born again and our sin has died with Jesus upon the cross we are set free from our marriage to sin and to Satan and we are free to marry another, which is Jesus Christ. Earlier, in Romans Paul taught that we are in bondage, that before being saved we are in bondage and a slave to Satan and that once we are saved, we are still in bondage, but now we are in bondage to a much better master; Jesus Christ.

Who is Your Father?
As we open again to the gospel of John, chapter 8, we see the pride that the Jewish people had in their ancestry. When confronted about their sin and need for a Savior, they continually fell back on the idea that they were “children of Abraham.” The confrontation we find between Jesus and the unbelieving Jewish religious leaders reached this point of hostility back in John 5, when Jesus had the audacity to heal a lame man, crippled for 38 years, on the Sabbath.
