Grace: Why We No Longer Fear A Fearsome God
What does the younger brother expect o find when he returns home to his Father? An angry Dad, and rightly so. But something has changed. The expected anger has been transformed into love and acceptance. The anger of God, while qualitatively different than human anger is both real and important, for it undergirds the reality of justice. At the cross though, Jesus met the demands of holy justice, paid the price for human sin, and the deserved anger of God is transformed into love and acceptance. God is fearsome, but not feared, for the perfect love of the cross casts out all fear and punishment.

Godly Submission
We are starting another section of Ephesians. It's a pretty big passage, covering twenty two verses and in this section Paul describes an attitude that is critical for every relationship we will ever have.

Zealous love for God (Psalm 119:113-120)
When we think about commitment to Christ and to the kingdom we so often put it into a context of mediocrity and we see it around us and start to think that is the standard of zeal. The psalmist confronts with our apathy and models for us a man who is sold out for Christ; a man who has set his heart toward things eternal; because he has set his heart toward the Eternal One. In this section the psalmist displays a zealous love and reverence for God! 3 Evidences of a Passionate love for God (1) Zealous Commitment (113-115) (2) Zealous Prayer (116-117) (3) Zealous Fear (118-120)

A Few Good Men for the City
Nehemiah took steps to repopulate the city. He appointed men who would keep it safe, help them worship and instruct the people. Godly leaders create a safe environment for meaningful ministry (biblical worship & gospel-centered teaching).

Justice and Generosity for the City
Injustice and oppression in the covenant community dishonors God. Christ's ministry on our behalf frees us not only from guilt but the bondage of sin, particularly greed. He works in us that we might fear God and therefore become both just and generous. He works through us to free others from bondage through the gospel.

2 Samuel 23:1-7 - Last Words Looking Forward
Last words are funny things. Not everyone gets a chance to give them, but David's last words (whether they are what he spoke or his last will and testament, I do not know) are recorded in Chapter 23 for us. The unique thing that differs from other last words in the Old Testament is that David was trying to anticipate the future. It is not a blessing about a person but a prophecy about a kingdom. Chapter 22 looks back upon how Yahweh established the kingdom and chapter 23 looks forward to how Yahweh will consummate the kingdom. David's last words help all of us over come a confidence problem we have with the future and especially Biblical prophecy. Verses 1-7 center around a just ruler that perfectly fears the Lord, which is none other than Jesus Christ Himself, as the Writer gives you 3 characteristics of His final kingdom: Certainty, Attractiveness, and Exclusiveness. As you listen to the sermon I pray that you will start or recommit yourself to see Christ as the center of your confidence in Scripture. May you see Christ as the preeminent figure in your understanding of the future kingdom of God.
