Sermons About Forgive
God Forgives Us
In this sermon Jeff makes a difficult observation: We're all bad. He goes on to explain what it means to miss the mark and the catastrophic ramifications for each of us. But that's where the good news comes in. We are reminded that though we have fallen short, God Forgives us. Romans 8 gives us an amazing picture of the exchange God was willing to make with us: our sin is replaced with Jesus' perfection when we put our Faith in Him.

Moving Forward Pt. 2 - Righting Relational Roadblocks
Jesus taught that unhealthy relationships will become roadblocks that keep us from moving forward in life and experiencing God's blessing on our lives. Going on with Jesus absolutely requires us to end dangerous relationships and to reconcile broken relationships.

Moving Forward Pt. 1 - Could've, Should've, Would've
Regrets over our past failures or missed opportunities can cripple us and keep us from moving forward in life. They can even begin to destroy our present lives by carrying those same failures forward. But Jesus came to free us from the regret of what 'could have been', and to restore the hope of what he promises 'will be' in our future!

I Forgive You
In this sermon, Rob Bell's nooma video titled: "Luggage" helps us to understand the need for forgiving just as God has forgiven us. Jed adds his insights at the end of the video and reminds us that when we forgive, we are actually passing on to others what God has already done for us...we're showing someone else a piece of who God is.

What does forgiveness really look like?
- Is forgiveness generally easy for you or hard? - When do you find it most difficult to forgive? - Which would you find more comforting? A God who forgets sin, or a God who chooses not to remember? - Should forgetting be a goal of forgiveness? - What should be our goal regarding forgiveness?

Blind to Mercy
The religious leaders in Jesus’ day loved to enforce their own extensive lists of rules and regulations and hammer anyone who didn’t live up to their standards. Jesus said that these people were blind and were leading other blind people into a ditch. They were blind to that fact that God is God of mercy and compassion and they were blind to their own failing and need for grace. We often take up the same judgmental attitude as the Pharisees, vilifying our opponents and painting ourselves as the good guys. Jesus commands us to stop judging and condemning people and instead by merciful and forgiving like our Father in heaven because we are all sinners and in desperate need of His mercy, grace, and forgiveness.

Recipe #4: You Can Both Win-EVERYTIME!
Recipe #4: Winning Fights: You Both Can Win—Every Time! “First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.†Matthew 7:5 5 PATHS TO LOG REMOVAL 1. Call a Time Out. **“My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.†James 1:19-20 **“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6 2. Cry out to God. **“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.†James 1:5 **“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.†1 Thessalonians 5:18 3. Commit to Forgiving Your Mate. **“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.†Ephesians 4:31-32 4. Choose a different Reaction. **James 1:21-25 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. 5. Create Judgment Free Zones. **James 4:11-12 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? TO YOUR MATE: I PROMISE to find God’s best in every trial. I give you the security of knowing that the negative things that happen in our marriage will not destroy my love for you. I will not expect perfection from you, but will use even the irritations between us as opportunities to see my blind spots and foster my personal growth. I will call on the power of Christ to root out my weaknesses. (Romans 8:28, James 1:12, Romans 5:3-5)
