Sermons About Friendship
Freedom-Faith Relationships - Galatians #13
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.

Love Experiment!
Even with technology connecting people like never before, there has never before been a time when people have felt more disconnected and lonely. In fact, Iloneliness is a widespread epidemic in our churches… this one not excluded! We have been here as a church for 13 years and yet many of us really don’t know each another. Sadly, so much time, energy, and effort has been put into the quality of the Sunday service each week with little left over to invest in helping us have healthy, meaningful relationships with each other. Meaningful friendship is one of the deepest needs you and I have in our lives! We need people who understand us, relate to us, listen objectively to us, love us, encourage us, and pray for us… no matter what! Today, for the first time in our existence, we changed our service from the norm and devoted it entirely to fulilling the greatest commandment there is... loving God and loving each other!

The Church... A Building or A Body?
Being a community of Christ-followers is about more than the surface level “Hi, how are ya†connection we make with each other when we attend a church service. What Jesus modeled and desired and wanted for His followers… is to connect more on a heart to heart… soul to soul level. While we can't "fix" or "change" each other... we have been given the capacity to "love" each other. What does that look like for you and me?
