Sermons About Fruit
The Surprising Way God Helps You Grow
True Christianity is not a program for self-improvement but a living relationship with Christ in which his life comes into you and changes you. Our core responsibility as Christians is to cultivate the relationship with Christ that will make us fruitful in life. In this passage of Scripture, John 15, Jesus is using the image of a grapevine to teach us about fruitful spiritual growth. Verse 5 gives us the real heart of the passage when Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Real Life & Real Change in the Real World
What does Jesus mean here when he talks about fruit and fruitfulness in life? When the Bible talks about fruit it is talking about deep positive changes in your life. In some places it also suggests the idea of a deep and positive influence on others for Christ. The best way to see this is to look at another passage, Galatians 5:22-23, which says; But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. In the vine and the branches Jesus gives us an image to tell us how those kinds of changes can come about in our lives.
