The Cross That Conquers You: No Right to Judge
In this passage Jesus is directly confronted by those who thought they were in charge, but he quickly makes it clear that they have no right to judge Him...it is He who would judge them. See the great compassion with which Jesus addresses your obstacles and then...He asks you to bow. My hope in these messages is that the cross upon which Jesus conquered sin becomes the cross which conquers you.

Walking by the Spirit Part 2
Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit as he discusses the shape our freedom is to take. The indwelling Spirit leads us to obey God out of love, in part by leading us to a greater knowledge of God and our position in Christ. We are responsible to keep in step with Him that Christ may be formed in us.

Exposure of False Assurance (Matthew 3:9)
There is nothing so common today - particularly among the professing church of Jesus Christ - than for men to think that all is well with their souls; that their eternity is secure; that their forms and activities of religion are enough to secure their favor with God. The thought of being self-deceived, or wrong about their religious confidence is offensive and an affront to their religious pride. However, if there is ever an area where it is crucial that we be right it is in the area of the true condition of our souls. A person can be wrong about many things and suffer but passing consequences, but to be wrong about one’s standing with God is the most dreadful of all errors. “The power of self-deception in unconverted man is infinite.” (Ryle) John the Baptist confronts the false hope and assurance of religious hypocrites. And he does this because a false religious confidence leads to a false assurance of salvation, which leads to eternal damnation. So, John wants expose this sandy foundation so that those who hear him and we ourselves could be rescued from self-deceit and enter into the true glories and joys of assurance built on the rock of truth and obedience.

Expectation of Repentance, pt. 1 (Matthew 3:8)
Many in the church today are presented with a gospel that simply calls people to “Receive Jesus as your Savior,†sign a card, look back on that date, and never doubt again. No call to be willing to forsake all and follow Him. No call to self-examination. No call to repentance as the testimony to the reality of faith. We have a whole culture of people who identify themselves as “Christians†and yet have lives and beliefs that are not submitted to the Word of God and are little different than those of confessed unbelieving people - and yet feel absolutely confident they are going to heaven. Thus, because of a failure to proclaim the full gospel the professing church of Jesus Christ is providing the many will stand before the living and exalted Christ to hear the most frightening words every uttered from His lips, “Depart from Me into the eternal lake of fire, I never knew you.†The Church, as Christ’s slaves and ambassadors have been entrusted with a message in which God’s glory and a sinner’s salvation hangs. John the Baptist was a faithful servant. It is this very deception of false faith that he will deal with this morning. He will do it by confronting a false view of religious confidence that fails to understand the nature of true repentance toward God.

The Spirit Bears Fruit
Paul says that love, joy, and peace are fruit of the Spirit. But too often we still try to produce them by our own efforts, without any reliance on the Holy Spirit. So how exactly does the Spirit produce this fruit, and what can we do to have this happen in us?
