Sermons About Generosity
Generosity - FUEL #7
Whether you are running on empty or three-quarters of a tank, you can’t go very far without fueling up. We all start the journey with energy and excitement but, too often, we find ourselves running out of steam along the way. Ever felt like you are trying hard but going nowhere? Does your spiritual life feel like an exasperating series of “do’s and don’ts” to which you can never live up? What if there was a way to stay connected to Jesus and not carry the weight on your own. In this series, we will get back to basics by exploring ancient spiritual practices that can refuel your soul.

Amazing Grace Just Doesn't Seem Fair
The employer’s decision in this story does seem unfair. He pays the very same wage to his employees whether they work all day or just the last hour. The pay is fair for a day’s work, but it is exceedingly generous for an hour’s work.

Giving and Grace
The Law no longer condemns us and it no longer curses us. Instead the law has become the way we learn what it looks like to be fully human. It is now nothing to fear, but something we learn of so that we might follow Jesus in response to His grace. The Spirit now shows you how Jesus lived up to the law instead of condemning you and convicting you in all the ways you’ve failed to live up. When you fail, you’re failing to live like who you truly are in Jesus. You’re already seen by the Father as keeping the law, there’s no need to use it to get His favor.

Four Mothers
Every mom will leave a legacy. (Dads, just in case you’re sitting there thinking, “Phew, this is not going to be about me.” Think again. Legacies aren’t just left by moms, legacies are left by parents.) Legacies are bits and pieces of your life that get embedded in the hearts, souls and minds of our children. Some of these bits and pieces are like seeds intentionally planted with the hopes of growing a fruitful yield. Others are like shrapnel of an emotional explosion that are painfully imbedded in our children. Often, both happen without intentionality. You’re invited to hear about the enduring legacies left with and in the children of four mothers of the Bible. It will change and challenge you. No, it will change and challenge your children.

Give Freely
Matthew 10:8 states, "Freely you have received, freely give." It is a foundational verse for our vision at Harbor of Hope; to be people who give freely, who lead generous lives. The questions that arise from this message have to do with whether or not we, as God's people, have become overly concerned with our own comfort, as oppossed to investing our lives in the causes of Christ and His Kingdom.
