Excelling In Generosity
Deity was invested in Humanity...empowering us to live lives that are Extraordinary. All of this came about because of God's great Generosity!
The tradition of Santa Claus goes back to Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, Turkey in the fourth century. Little is known about his life except that he entrusted his life to Jesus at an early age, and that after his parents died he gave all of his inheritance to the poor. While serving as Bishop he learned of three young girls who were going to be sold into slavery by their father. Deeply moved, St. Nick used the church’s wealth to buy the young girls’ freedom. Today we describe sacrificial gifts that cost us deeply as showing the true Christmas Spirit. This we see in the story of Old St. Nick, but remember that Bishop Nicholas was moved first by the true Spirit of Christmas, Jesus of Nazareth.
