Sermons About Genesis-3
"Confusing...Deceitful...Reality"
The world in which we live is a cruel place. From a young age we constantly get a message of "You're Not Good Enough!" drilled into our heads. The world is also full of deceit; it dangles "hope," in the form of the proverbial carrot in front of a donkey, because if we work real hard we just might be "good enough." Ironically, when we encounter God's Word it says, "you're not good enough" as well. However, God is gracious.

No one can escape the long shadow of Hollywood. So it makes sense that we would learn to interact and dialogue with film. We will consider two films in this short series. This week: Juno.

Advent: Hope
This week, we begin Advent. Advent is the season of preparation to celebrate the coming of Christ. It is a season of reflection and contemplation of the mysteries and wonder of the Incarnation. This year, we will focus on Isaiah 11 as our text for Advent and our focus will be on Christ as the shoot and root of Jesse.

Resources (Please turn over) Helpful Resources: Books: ‘No more Christian nice guy’ -Paul Coughlin Paul writes boldly about how the church has feminised Jesus over the years. He helps us to see once again that Jesus is actually a strong man! A man who argued, a man who fought for what is right. A man who wasn’t scared a man who wasn’t lazy. A man who loved us so much that he gave his life for us. The second half of the book goes into detail about how a lot of us men have become ‘nice’ and that ‘nice’ is actually a sin, because of it's affect on our walk as Christians. There’s a section also, about godly habits and encouragement on how to continue the life of a Christian man ‘Disciplines of a Godly man’ -R. Kent Hughes This book is great for learning about who you are as a man and what areas in your life you need to change in order to be more Godly. This book is a must read and a great book to read as a group and praying with one another after each chapter. ‘Calling Christian Leaders’ -John Stott Typically, John Stott writes a theological account on what Christian leadership should look like in a church, using 1 Corinthians chapter 1 to 4. It’s written for men who are in a more mature role in the church, like a pastor or an elder. But still a great read for those guys who aren’t. Sermon Review Reverse Engineering Your Life -Mark Driscoll This sermon is a must to listen to! I won’t spoil it for you here, Ill just say that you HAVE to listen to it!
