Unravel
Synopsis: Simetimes life unravells and totally comes apart. The wheels fall off, the relationship breaks up, the friends dies and life dissappoints. Life unravelled is life lived for many people today. In the text Paul and Silas' ministry anf future unravelled before their eyes. Scripture: Acts 16: 19-26 (NIV) 19 When the owners of the slave girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities. 20 They brought them before the magistrates and said, "These men are Jews, and are throwing our city into an uproar 21 by advocating customs unlawful for us Romans to accept or practice." 22 The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten. 23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. Points: I. Unfair Trial II. Shattered Future III. While Going Through IV. Let's Face It: Domestic Violence
Synopsis: Violence begins in the heart and the mind and not in the mouth or the fist. Jesus challenges us to address the state of our heart. Domestic violence is a world wide social concern that must be addressed on all levels. Scripture: Luke 6: 43-45 (NCV) 43 "A good tree does not produce bad fruit, nor does a bad tree produce good fruit. 44 Each tree is known by its own fruit. People don't gather figs from thornbushes, and they don't get grapes from bushes. 45 Good people bring good things out of the good they stored in their hearts. But evil people bring evil things out of the evil they stored in their hearts. People speak the things that are in their hearts. Points: I. Every Relationship should have a line in the sand. II. Let's Face It: HIV
Synopsis: Take a real look at the reality and hope of HIV / AIDS Scripture: NIV Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. Jump Forward
Synopsis: Once you jump in that is only the beginning of your journey. You have to move forward. Scripture: Joshua3: 14-17 14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground. Synopsis: Sometimes living on the edge is not good. You have to jump in. God did not make life a spectator sport. How Much it Cost
Description: Our salvation and our redemption came at a cost. The cost was Jesus Christ. Through our giving experience we made a decision to give to others who could not produce the resource for themselves. God gave us salvation through Jesus Christ when we could not save ourselves. Scripture:1 Peter 1:17-21 NIV) 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. Storms: "The Heart of the Matter"
In relationships the heart matters. Its shape, condition and vitality. To God the heart matters as well. Most times condition of our heart determines the condition of our relationships. Scripture: NLT: Proverbs 21:1-3 1 The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he turns it wherever he pleases. 2 People may think they are doing what is right, but the LORD examines the heart. 3 The LORD is more pleased when we do what is just and right than when we give him sacrifices. I. In Relationships the heart matters II. To God the heart matters III. God sees what's on the inside 1st
