It is NOT you, it is the Blood
[1] His blood was poured out in the blood-sweat in the Garden of Gethsemane, Luke 22:44. [2] His blood was poured out when He was scourged with a whip outside of the Praetorium, Mark 15:15. [3] His blood was poured out when they placed the crown of thorns on His head inside the Praetorium, Mark 15:17. [4] His blood was poured out when they drove the nails in His hands and feet on Calvary, Psalm 22:16; John 20:27. Surrendering in Freedom-Faith - Galatians #14
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.

Now We Know

Conflict and Community: Saying No to God?
The impending doom of the cross is closing in on Jesus, so he cries to God out of the stress and fear of the darkness that lays before him. As he does, we are awed as we see the honesty and passion of Jesus’ prayer life. We are moved to worship as we see that the darkness he entered was the darkness of our own suffering, judgment, and struggles. We are called to enter into the darkness and suffering of those around us, seeking to cause the sun of God’s kingdom to rise higher over our communities and our city.

O Come, All Ye Faithful (Mk 14:26-72)
Before and during the arrest and trial of Jesus, his closest disciples all fall away. It's by the faithfulness of Jesus that any of us can stand.

Facing Suffering and Temptation
In our approach to God in prayer during suffering or when facing temptation, we should look to Jesus praying at Gethsemane just before his betrayal, crucifixion and resurrection. We look at two passages: Mt 26:36-46 and Luke 22:40-46.
