Walking in the Footsteps of Faith: Lessons from your Father
Today we celebrate, first the goodness and greatness of our majestic heavenly Father. But we also celebrate His good gifts—especially the gift of a dad. Whether you are a father, grandfather, or great grandfather, we pray that you might realize the power of influence you have, and that you might seek the Lord’s help to bless those he has placed under your care. Never underestimate the power of your words, your example, your encouragement and your blessing. Today in the Word we will be looking at one of the great fathers of Scripture, and one of the great legacies of his life.

Why the Local Church? (Ephesians 4:11-16)
In God's design, the local church is to serve as 1) a place to hear God's word preached and applied in a systematic way; 2) a place to put our commitment to God, and to one another, into practice; 3) a context for us to mature; 4) a place to discover and practice our ministry and spiritual gifts with perspective and leadership; 5) a protection from doctrinal error; 6) a place to demonstrate the gospel; and 7) a place to preserve and cultivate the fruit of the gospel.

Philippians 1:1-2 - A Captive Joy
We normally think that Philippians is all about joy, and that is of course a major theme when it flashes forth 16 times. But it is sparked by the deeper themes of Paul’s letter. Philippians calls us to a particular kind of joy - a joy that was experience by Paul in Roman captivity facing a capital charge while his leadership was being contested. In this sermon we will look at acts 16 and see the journey Paul took to get to Philippi with his companions (Luke, Timothy, and Silas) including the Macedonia call by the Spirit of God. Secondly we will look at Paul's reception by 3 different people in Acts 16 when he arrives at Philippi. Finally, we will look at the occasion for this letter late in Paul's imprisonment at Rom (probably after 62 AD). My desire and prayer is that you will see the servant heart of Paul in fellowship with the Philippians Christians was based on making Christ the center of the letter and the motivation of His joy.

Kingdom Practice: Kingdom Stewardship
Luke 19:11-27 As those living in the Kingdom of God, and awaiting the return of our King Jesus, we understand that our posture must be desperate dependence and humility. But, does it really matter? Does Jesus Christ really care how we live? how we use the life, resources, and Gospel He has entrusted to us? This parable holds the answer and it is a resounding "YES!"

A Mind-Boggling Misunderstanding
When Jesus walked on this earth, He taught about real life issues. One of these real-life issues is money and how we use it. By nature all of us tend to be greedy. Practicing biblical stewardship helps us not to become greedy. The man in this Bible study did not understand stewardship. Jesus called him a fool. Why did Jesus call him a fool? Calling Out Our Best
If spiritual maturity is the goal for every follower of Christ, (and it is!) then spiritual discipline and mentorship must be required. Most of us would not be who we were today without a full complement of people who have poured into our lives. Parents, friends, teachers, coaches, mentors and others have poked and prodded us along the way – encouraged us to be or to become the very best we can be. In the spiritual realm we are told that God gives these gifts of “poking and prodding” as well. He intentionally sends into our lives those people who will help call out the very best in us. The questions we’re left with: Will we respond to the voice of God through these people? Will we allow God to use us like this in someone else’s life? Key Passage: Ephesians 4:11-13

Tested by Fire
Often the greatest times of spiritual growth, come as the result of suffering and pain. God's greatest gifts to us, come in the form of "subtractions" instead of "additions". We grow on the valley floor ... suffering drives us deep. The authentic faith - is one that has been tested by fire, and proven powerful and rich. IN our day of "easy-believism" when we expect only good from the hand of God, perhaps the greatest challenge to our faith and to our spiritual maturity is when the storms of life begin to howl. Finding Jesus in the midst of the storm and being able to praise Him despite our pain is one of the critical steps on the journey toward Spiritual Maturity. We might not at first consider these trials as "gifts" but these "severe gifts" may be the catalyst for incredible spiritual growth if we will lean into God's purpose in them. Key Passages: Job 2:10 and Isaiah 48:10

Love Letter to The Bride: Part 2
Just as a father would give gifts to his daughter to prepare her for her new life, and the tasks in it, so Christ asks His Father to give gifts to those who would make up His new bride, the church. The gifts given as a dowry from our heavenly Father: the Holy Spirit, and the peace of God

Are You Hot or Cold?
Ron Veale presents God’s message from Revelation 3:14-22 as part of the series, “Now What?” This teaching about the Laodicean church encourages us to either be hot—to bring healing to others, or cold—to bring refreshing to those that need it. Being either hot or cold is a good thing. We are held accountable to God to be a blessing to others through the various gifts He has given his church to use in ministering to each other and the community.

A Well-Oiled Ministry Machine
The most powerful engines in the world are useless without the lubricating effect of high-quality oils, grease, or synthetic polymers. They would literally burn themselves up as the internal friction of the engine heated the motor to dangerous temperatures, and the engine seizes -- so too with the engine of ministry. Key Passage: 1 Peter 4:10

Now About Spiritual Gifts
Now About Spiritual Gifts The early church focused less on the cross than they did on the resurrection, believing that just as God raised Jesus Christ from the dead, He would empower them to produce fruit for Him. This empowerment came through spiritual gifts that enabled each believer to serve the body of Christ in a special and unique way. That’s the way it still works. Ro 6:4, Ro 7:4, Matt 25:14, 1Cor 12, Php 2:4-8, Acts 6, Acts 9, 2Tim 2:20-21

Last Words (Mark 16:9-20)
Jesus commands his disciples, and by extension his church, to preach the gospel to all nations, making and baptizing disciples. We preach the gospel, not to be intolerant or disrespectful, but out of love for others and because our Lord and Savior has commanded us to do so. He promises to pour out his Holy Spirit on us to empower us to preach the gospel and to care for one another. And in his ascension, he proves that he has completed everything necessary to satisfy God's justice, secure our acceptance before God, and provide for our every need. We belong to him!

How to be Genuine in our Giving and Receiving from One Another
Better Together – 40 Days of Community “How to be Genuine in our Giving and Receiving from One Another” Today’s Scripture: Philippians 4: 10-20 Be grateful for the gift of friendship. (Verse 10) A true relationship can’t grow when we are using the other person. (Verse 11) True happiness comes not from things but the sufficiency of Christ (Verse 12, 13) People in distress should experience a church community that genuinely cares (Verse 14) Be genuinely grateful for the giving of fellow Christ followers (Verse 1:5; 2:25-30; 4:15-20) Don’t seek their gift as much as rejoice in the fruit which is added to their account by their giving (Verse 17) You need to know that your gift is first of all a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice well pleasing to God. (Verse 18) You need to be reminded that God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches (Verse 19)
