THE GOSPEL OF GOD: God's Power for Salvation and God's Righteousness Revealed (Message #2 * Romans 1:16-17) 10-14-2012
1. God is Righteous and He is Our Creator and Judge: but we have sinned & fallen short of His glory (Ro 1:17; 1:1-5; 1:18-20; 2:6-8; 3:23). 2. The Righteousness of God has been fulfilled by Jesus Christ: through his obedient life, his death on the cross, and his resurrection from the dead (Ro 1:17; 1:2-4; 3:21-26; 5:12-21). 3. God Justifies (or declares righteous) Sinners who have Faith in Jesus: Have you put your faith in Jesus? (Ro 1:17; 3:23-26; 5:1-11; 8:1-4) 4. God’s sets us Free from Sin’s power and makes us Slaves of Righteousness: to bring about the obedience of faith from all the nations for His glory (Ro 1:17; 1:5; 6:17-18; 7:18-25; 16:26-27). 5. The Gospel reveals the Righteousness of our Faithful, Covenant-keeping God: So live by faith in Jesus Christ as we trust God and His unfolding plan (Ro 1:17; 8:28ff; 11:25-36; Heb 10:32-39). 6. The Gospel is the Power of God for the Salvation of Everyone who Believes: So believe in Jesus Christ and do not be ashamed of the gospel (Ro 1:16; 1:1-6; 8:1-4, 31-39; 15:5-13; 16:25-27).

That is, inviting people to come to Christ without helping them to grow into the image of Christ. This can be avoided, but it will require us to get our hands dirty.
