How to Stress Less about Finances - Journey to Generosity #1
We were created to be generous—made in the image of a God who first generously created us. But the struggles of life often push us to worry about our financial security. Without minimizing the very real pain caused by our present economic difficulty, is it possible that our current reality might allow us to find a more reliable place for our trust? When we embrace a life of generosity—even in times of economic difficulty—we experience the rich blessing of living as we were meant to live. Now is not the time to hunker down in fear, but to stand up with compassionate hearts and open hands. In this series, we will study the Bible’s invitation to go on a faith journey from financial fear to joyful generosity.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 2.12-18
What is our responsibility as a believer in becoming more like Christ? What is God’s part in such a work? A God of Unchanging Faithfulness
We live in a world of constant change. We are used to the weather changing. These days of extended summer are a nice change. Sometimes people change, and it is not so nice. They get angry and bitter, and they take it out on those close to them. The truth is that change is a part of life, but it can sometimes be very unsettling. Out of everything in our lives that does change, we can rest assured that God is not one of them. He never changes. He is the same God today that he has been from the beginning. This brings us great comfort in times of trouble, and great encouragement throughout all our lives. The unchanging faithfulness of God should call us to a life of obedience. Today, in this fifth talk from Malachi, we see the unchanging nature of God and the effect that it should have on our lives. God is a God of amazing grace and mercy who gives us great blessings, but he wants us to follow him in obedience.

Paul uses the metaphor of shoes to refer to the solidity given by the good news of peace, and the confident trust in God will protect us from the lies and temptations of Satan as he tempts us to disbelieve God and seek happiness by disobeying His commands.

The Gospel Frees Us From Darkness
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Once you understand the value of Jesus’ sacrifice, your notion of freedom is forever changed. You’ll discover that the most freeing thing in the world is to give yourself over entirely to the one you love, and this is exactly what happens in the gospel. The good news about Jesus is that he grants us freedom from our toughest struggles, our deepest scars, our strongest doubts, and our biggest fears. When you find Jesus, you find true freedom. ___________________________ The 2nd of 10 sermons in the Emancipation Proclamation Series at Remnant Church in Richmond, Virginia.

This Is Not A Formula
These steps are the natural response of a heart that loves God and wants His will, and does not have His will. We need to fall in love with God. Holiness begins with desire. Do you desire to be pleasing to God or to yourself. It is our lack of holiness that build barriers.
