Many people ask along with Philip for God to show Himself to us, but God has already done so by walking the earth as Jesus Christ. If we believe in this and follow Christ then He has promised to work many wonderful things through us and to send the Holy Spirit to comfort us.

John 14:1-7 - The Hope of Going Home
We all want to be in a place of eternal rest, but Jesus is the only way that God has created for us to go there. Jesus is back at the Father's side preparing a place for those who trust in Him and He will come back someday to take us there. Having our eyes fixed on our eternal home with our God and King will help us to persevere through the sufferings must go through here and now.

John 13:31-38 - A Tattoo On Our Forehead
After demonstrating His love in humility by washing their feet, Jesus His disciples to love others as He has loved them. If we love others in the same genuine way it will mark us as disciples of Christ as distinctly as if it was tattooed on our forehead.

John 13:18-30 - Betraying God
Judas was one of Jesus' disciples, learning from Him, ministering with Him, and watching Him perform miracles, yet Judas betrayed his Lord for thirty pieces of silver. Before we look down on Judas we need to realize that when we sin we too betray God and the people around us, and our betrayal is just as foolish, wicked, and tragic.

Mary demonstrated her love and devotion to Christ by pouring one year's wages worth of perfume on His head. In the same way we should give lavishly and boldly of the time, talents, and resources that God has given us as outpourings of our love for Jesus.

John 11:1-51 - Shepherded Into Suffering
Just as He loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus, Jesus loves us very much, so he will lead us into and through times of suffering so that we can learn to better depend on Him in faith and see His glory as He provides for us. Knowing this, we shouldn't shrink back from suffering but instead reach for Him no matter what the cost.

John 10:22-42 - Secure
Jesus is the Good Shepherd and His sheep are secure in Him. If we believe that Jesus is God who came to die for our sins and we follow Him we can rest assured that we are one of His sheep and He holds us securely in His hands. Knowing this should give us confidence and boldness to proclaim the Gospel.
