Hans continues our final leg of our Acts series, this week challenging the Oaks Location to recognize spiritual warfare and combat it with the Gospel.
In 1:5-16, Paul explains why Titus’ appointment of qualified leadership (vv. 5-9) and opposition to unqualified leadership (vv. 10-16) in the Cretan churches is so important, namely because there are many false teachers in Crete turning people away from the centrality of the gospel (1:11, 14). In order to help Titus and the churches recognize and oppose ungodly leadership, Paul gives 12 characteristics of false teachers and 2 action steps to take in order to prevent them from harming the church.
Four men came to Jesus carrying their paralysed friend. Why were they so determined, and what does this story teach us about revival, urgency and forgiveness?
Have you ever wondered if God really wants to forgive you? Have you ever felt like God might be growing tired of your shortcomings? It's unanswered questions like these that can leave us skeptical about God's love for us when we fail. In this passage, Jesus answers those questions and more by teaching us that he is our hope for a right relationship with God and our hope for right fellowship with God.
In Jesus we meet the true and perfect advocate that we need. He stands between us and the Father as a High Priest - fully human for our need and fully God for obedience.
