Gratitude!
What motivated your Christian life? Often times we are motivated by guilt and fear. One recent study by a psychologist declares that faith has nothing to do with good behavior rather it is an innate sense that we must measure up to cultural standards and our own feelings of guilt that really make the difference. Some churches teach that guilt is wrong and that religion teaches us to find what is godly within us and than as soon as we can dispense with our feelings of guilt we can live for God. Interesting as they may be, we must compare these ideas to what the Bible says about this subject just as we must with any subject. Take a look with me at Paul's letter to the Colossians and see what he says is the motivation to live for Christ.

Revival in the Family
When we experience genuine Revival, the very first place it will be seen is at home. Ephesians 5 teaches us that when a person is filled with the Spirit of God, there will be immediate manifestations of spiritual health. He or she will cooperate with the Holy Spirit and joy, gratitude and unselfishness will be the evidence. Imagine the impact a family member would make if these qualities were readily demonstrated in the context of their home.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 1.3-11
As Paul begins his letter to the church at Philippi he reveals his gratitude to God for the church's commitment to the gospel and to Paul's ministry. Their partnership in the gospel gives Paul much joy as he prays for them. He has such joy and affection for the church because they are walking in the truth. What gives you the greatest joy? For Paul it is the work that God is continuing to do in his brothers and sisters in Philippi. No doubt Paul would have much reason to be down and lonely while in prison, but his circumstances do not affect his joy and prayers for these in Philippi. The gospel has such power as it reconciles sinful people not only to God, but to each other. The gospel is what holds Paul and the Philippians together even though they are apart. The gospel must take first place in both our relationships and prayers.
