Who Gets to Say What Sin Is? The second message in our series: How Then Shall We Live? A focus on holy living in a complicated world God Does! New Testament word for sin: Hamartia – used 217 times as “missing the mark” Missing the whole point of one’s life and purpose for why I am here. Four kinds of Sin: 1. inherent depravity of nature (1 Corinthians 15:21, 22) 2. Missing the mark as THE SIN (John 8:24) 3. Acts of sinning (Matthew 15:18-20) 4. The unpardonable sin (Mark 3:28,29) I Do! Blessed is the person who does not condemn himself by what he approves. Romans 14:22 If you believe it is wrong to drink and eat certain foods, then for you it is wrong. Romans 14:14 Whatever is not of faith is sin. Romans 14:23 My Christ following friend does! Decide to live in such a way that you will not put an obstacle in another Christ follower’s path. Romans 14:23 If a Christ follower is distressed by what you eat or drink, you are not acting in love if you do it. Romans 14:15 Don’t eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another Christ follower to stumble. Romans 14:21 We must be considerate of the doubts and fears of those who think these things are wrong. Romans 15:1
