Life in the Vine Part 6
Many of us, perhaps, feel that we’ve beaten the problem of the hatred of the world and we kind of go on day by day thinking we’re a friend of the world. If we’re a friend of the world then we’re no friend of God. We can’t be a friend of the world and a disciple of Jesus Christ. The subtle temptation of Satan is to get us to be comfortable in the world, to get right at home with the system and to make the world feel comfortable around us. Jesus didn’t send us into the world to make the world comfortable, He sent us into the world to make the world miserable with the Gospel, the Word of Word, the Holy Spirit, and the Truth. Are you hated without cause by this world? If yes, then you are living a faithful life of the Truth. If no, then ask yourself the question, is it because I am a friend of the world?
Genesis 37:1-11
Joseph was a faithful son to his father; a favored son to his father, set apart by a special coat; a hated son by his brothers; and favored by God, shown by dreams.
Transforming Grace
“When I was ten I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.†- C.S. Lewis To be so self-absorbed, so fearful of the opinions of others, so defined by what others think, is a sure way to miss the real Jesus. To be like a child, to be willing to look foolish for Jesus is a crushing blow to your pride, and it is a necessary step to meet the real Jesus. Have you gotten over the fear of looking childish? It’s one of the ways you know you’re growing up.
