Sermons About Healing
3:16 - Pt. 2 (He Gave)
The heart of the human problem is the problem with the human heart. But God, our Great Physician, sees the true, diseased condition of our hearts, and gives us the ultimate gift to heal us of what's killing us. Even greater, he chooses to trade places with us, embracing our terminal condition, and offering us his perfect, new heart in exchange.

Every single person needs to be healed spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and sometimes even physically. We think that giving our life to the Lord should be enough, but it is not. God is the healer and He wants to heal you.

Christ on Trial: The Woman Healed (Luke 13:10-17)
This episode is the last time in the Gospel of Luke that Jesus taught in a synagogue. The Pharisees and teachers’ primary reason for attending that day was to see if Jesus would heal. I love the fact that they were convinced Christ would heal, even on the Sabbath, if He encountered a need. No amount of laws could keep Him from being Himself! The Pharisees and teachers caught Christ in the act of being God. Luke described the woman healed as one who had been crippled by a spirit and bound by Satan for 18 years. It was Jesus’ mission among the people of the nation to loose them from crippling influences and bring them to uprightness. Here was a graphic example of Jesus’ touch, bringing the woman to a position of uprightness. Jesus healed her through his touch and with His words: "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." Immediately she straightened up and praised God.

Esther and God's Sovereignty Over the Nations
Are things out of control? Does chaos reign? Sometimes it feels that way. Look at the financial markets. Look at the political headlines. But don’t forget to look at the Bible and Esther. Things look one way, but are they really as they seem? The headlines suggest one thing. The Scriptures suggest another. As we have seen, Scripture has a lot to say about the nations. Today in the Word we will consider the book of Esther and its message in light of the prophets of Israel and the storyline of the entire Bible. It is our hope that God will use its message to inform our fears.

Worthy Suffering (Acts 5:12-42)
The question we face is not if we will suffer, or when, but how we will suffer. We need to be worthy sufferers. Acts 5 provides a stunning example of worthy suffering as the Apostles face opposition, threats, and a possible death penalty for preaching in the name of Jesus.

Man's Suffering - God's Sovereignty
In John 9 Jesus uses a man born blind in order to show the people His power. This man had been blind his whole life and was determined by God for this very purpose. Is that fair? Can God do that? Our sensibilities may be offended at the thought that God would not only allow, but cause such a situation. How do we view suffering in light of the presence of a loving God? This is one of the classic complaints of atheists and agnostics, that suffering demonstrates that God either does not exist or is not loving. If He was He would have to end all suffering. Is this really the case? What does the Bible say? What should our attitude be?

Broken people... welcome!
There is one common denominator that binds all of us together, regardless of our age, or race, or socio-economic background. All of us have experienced times of brokenness in our lives and have needed not only the grace of God but also the love of His people. Today we're talking about the journey of brokenness and healing and we're going to gather around the communion table where our broken lives are made whole again. The bottom line? Broken people are welcome!

A Wounded Savior for a Wounded People
Everyone is wounded in some way - physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. Entering into this Lenten season, there is help and healing for those who are wounded. We have a wounded Savior for a wounded people. Jesus experienced the awful burden of our sin, taking on himself the punishment for the evil we have done and the good we have failed to do. He was wounded for our transgressions and died upon the cross for our salvation. Throughout the Lenten season, we will examine a different wound of our sinfulness which led to Jesus' being wounded and crucified in our behalf. In his wounds, there is forgiveness and new life.
