It is essential to understand the relationship between the cross and the sufferings of humanity. How then does the cross speak to us in times of pain and suffering? I want to give you two truths (there are many more!) on how the cross speaks to us in our suffering.
Heartache, Heartbreak, and Heart-health
Do you know how to be miserable? It's easy. All you have to do is take what you know the Word of God clearly teaches and ignore it. Also, if we are not going to actually apply the Word of God, then what could be a bigger waste than studying it? The truth is the Word of God has absolutely no value to the person that is not intent on applying it. John the Baptist is in trouble, in prison and awaiting his own execution. In a moment of need and doubt he reaches out to Jesus. So, how does Jesus help him? What does he do, and what does he say? Is Jesus truly enough?
