Why did God give you to this church? You see, most of the time we ask the wrong question. We ask…what can I get out of, what can I get from, this church? Wrong question. A better question would be…why did God give this community the gift of you? Was it because of your teaching, your leadership, your encouragement, your discernment, or whatever it is that makes you the super-powered you? Why did God give us the gift of you?
Daniel 2 reminds us that we must have wisdom if we are going to thrive while in exile. Our world needs more wisdom, not just knowledge, of how to live. Daniel gives us an example of wise living in the midst of a foreign land.
Too often we focus so much on the future that we don't take the time to listen to what God says to us. In making our own plans that we believe will bring us comfort, we miss the lesson Jesus teaches about humility and service. John and James provide a great example by which Jesus makes his point made.
Two years ago West Hills adopted a vision statement saying we will become â€œa church of irresistible influence, building bridges to a hurting world and impacting lives with the love of Christ.â€ What does that really mean, and how are we doing? This message looks at some of the ways our vision is becoming reality, and considers where God wants to take us from here.
