Tongues of Fire
The Day of Pentecost arrives, and Jesus baptizes His Church with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers the believers to speak in other languages about the mighty works of God. What happens when God shows up? What does it mean to "speak in tongues"? Do Christians speak in tongues today? *We apologize for the poor audio quality of this sermon, and, unfortunately, the recorder died before the sermon's end. We hope that what is available is a blessing to you.*
Why Do Bad Things Happen to Christians?
Why do bad things happen to Christians? Paul gives us three reasons that we experience afflictions.
Dream Again Pt. 3
God gives everyone a dream. It's easy to get side-tracked by the pain and trials in life on the way to the dream. When we find ourselves in those dark places, we need to remember that it's not about our breaking out; it's about God breaking in. When we allow God in--then and only then--will we break free!
“Who are you? Who, Who, Who, Who?”: Sermon for the First Sunday After the Epiphany, Year C
With the baptism of Jesus, the Spirit of God told him "you are my Beloved..." The question for us is, "Who are you?" We find out that we, too, are God's beloved!
Dream Again Pt. 2
Every dream starts with a seed. Often we confuse the dream with God's Will, but it is actually the journey toward the dream that is God's Will. Let's not forget that this journey has a purpose! We mature during this process. We come forth as gold in this process. When we focus on this maturing process, versus all the trials in it, we will realize later that the dream wasn't even the reward. The journey was the reward! Therein lies the power of testmony!
God of Comfort Not There Yet
Where is God when things go bad? Why do Christians Suffer?
Holding Back God's Power
We are promised the power of God in our lives as Christians in Acts 1:8, but why don't many of us have that power? This message looks at three ways that we personally block the power of God in our lives.
Dream Again Pt. 1
God has given us all dreams and purposes for our lives. Because of that, often we confuse the dream for His Will. Actually, it is the journey towards the dream that is the Will of God--not the dream itself. The reason we get confused is because most of the time this journey is fraught with discomfort, pain, and danger. Yet, if we are in tune to God's Will, we will see this journey as a time for necessary growth and maturation. This gives our initial dream deeper meaning, brings us closer to God, and renders our lives joy-filled!
