And Don't You Forget It
What does it mean for God to send his Holy Spirit? Who receives this Spirit? How do we know if we have received his Spirit? And how should that impact the way we think and live? Listen in as we look to Acts 2 to find answers to these, and other, questions about the Holy Spirit.

A Generous Community
These days, there is an appetite for spirituality and a distaste for "church." Is this really what God wanted? The church was intended to be a dynamic, life-giving movement of people who experience and extend the love of God together. In fact, Jesus said that you can't be spiritual on your own, that the spiritual life is something we do together. If you catch a glimpse of God's dream for doing life together, we are convinced you'll never want anything less.

Getting People to Take Their Medicine
It has been said that the church is to be a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. If the church is a hospital, what kind of medicine does it offer and how can it persuade patients to take it? Just as in every area of life, Jesus is our example here. He excelled in getting people to hear and accept what God had to say to them. He led many people to complete change and healing. What was his secret weapon? Key Verses: Lk 5:27-32, Matt 28:18, Lk 7:36-39, Matt 19:16-22, Eph 2:8-12, John 16:7-14, Lk 19:1ff, 1John 4:8

Certain people encouraged us most during our school years. The time comes when we must "leave the nest." Like young eagles, we must learn how to stretch our wings out to catch the wind.

Unlikely Witnesses
When Jesus left the earth he left behind a small group of unlikely witnesses with the daunting task of spreading his message to the ends of the earth. Since then he has added many more people to his team of unlikely witnesses. People like us. Listen in as we open the book of Acts to learn how and why he would choose people like us as his witnesses.

Who Is the Holy Spirit, and Why Does It Matter?
The Holy Spirit may be the most misunderstood in all of scripture! Is He an energy force? Is He a manifestation of power much like Kali is a manifestation of Shiva in Hinduism? Is the Holy Spirit God, and what does He do? God’s mysteries are amazing, and I think a reminder of His infinite being and our finite minds.

God's Perfect Knowledge of Man
God knows our heart better then we sometimes want to admit. We have to ask God to examine our heart and make us right with Him; Tell us what our sins are and we, in return, have to repair our relationship with God.

Life In The Spirit
Air is something that you can't see, but don't think that because something is invisible it is weak or unimportant. It is because of the quality of air as invisible and yet powerful that God compares air, wind and breath to His Holy Spirit. In fact, the words for spirit, breath and wind in the Bible are identical. The wind is a physical reflection of the spiritual truth that the Holy Spirit is real and powerful.

Filled with the Holy Spirit
The life, the ministry, the crucifixion and resurrection and ascension of Jesus has brought about a radical new situation in our relationship with God. Pentecost was like the dawning of a new day, the ushering in of a new relationship with God for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. In this sermon, pastor Larry Kirk discusses the unique way that God the Holy Spirit is present with us after this amazing event called Pentecost.

Essentials Part 1
The gospel and truth is under continual attack by Satan who sends out false teachers, false shepherds, false apostles and false prophets to wage war against the church, God’s people. There is a battle for truth and much is at stake – God’s glory and the eternal destiny for all. Join us as we are encouraged by Jude (vv. 3-25) today to contend earnestly for the faith. We will also speak to the essentials of the church. These are the things that we will have a close hand on as we have an open hand to the culture around us.

The Roots Of Authentic Christianity
We need to understand the gift of the Holy Spirit is an important part of the gift of redemption. The gospel is not that you have to save yourself by trying to be good enough to earn God's love. It is not that! It is that God, in love, sent his Son, to pay for our sins through His death on the cross. Jesus promised that if we come to him, admit that we need him and trust in him as our Savior he will redeem us by his grace. He also made it clear that what he gives us when we turn to Him is not only forgiveness but Himself to live in us. When you believe in Him He comes in to guide, empower and change you from within. His resurrection and ascension are the proof that He is alive and he will not only forgive our sins but live in us by His Holy Spirit if we trust in Him.

Living In Power
Living in the resurrection means that you are living in power—the Father and the Son both abiding in you through the Holy Spirit. In the context of Jesus’ command to “love one another”, this power is given for the purpose of loving each other with the kind of love he demonstrated through his death and resurrection. This power makes you a source of God’s love, like a “river of living waters.” Your task in light of the resurrection is to love in the power of the Holy Spirit until Jesus comes back.

Masculine Spirituality (Joshua 1:8-9)
God intends for men to invest ourselves in the lives of others, working for his purposes rather than our own. We are to influence others for good, helping them to understand and pursue Christ-likeness. This begins with our families, but extends to God's church and also to the unbelievers that God has placed in our lives. Our serving others requires selfless sacrifice on our part, but God will provide us the grace and strength to be faithful to our calling as we obey.

Love does no wrong
If we’re in love, we do no wrong, if we do wrong, we’re not in love. Our fight is not with flesh and blood, or in other words, people. We are to fight the good fight against the devil and all his demons. We are to love people, no matter what they do to us. Love places no demands of anyone other than itself. Love takes the first step. God has given us the love necessary to love like this. Love does for others regardless of what they can do for us. We owe everyone to love them.

People, meet your stereotype before it meets you
The Lectionary texts for today speak about thirst for life. The people thirst for water in the wilderness. The Samaritan woman at the well meets the One who gives the water of eternal life. Paul speaks of God’s love being “poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.” The Samaritan woman didn’t recognize her need for “Living Water”, instead we find a woman who is secluded to an island in her own life. Simon and Garfunkel in their song entitled “I am a Rock” express this idea well: “A fortress deep and mighty, that none may penetrate. I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain. It’s laughter and its loving that I disdain. I am a rock, I am an island...I have my books and my poetry to protect me; I am shielded in my armor, hiding in my room, safe within my womb. I touch no one and no one touches me. I am a rock, I am an island. And a rock feels no pain; and an island never cries.”

The Advantage of the Holy Spirit
Jesus told the Disciples that he was going away, and that this would be better for them, because His Father would send the Holy Spirit to them. He said it was to our advantage for Him to go away. He comes to be our helper. He speaks what He hears the Father say. He brings the Word of God to us. He helps us do what we’re called to do. He is our helper, our teacher, our guide, our strength. Jesus said that He would do 4 things for us: 1. Lead us into all truth, 2. Teach us all things, 3. Show us things to come, 4. Bring all things to our remembrance.

A Warning Label (1 Corinthians 2:6-16)
Paul contrasts divine wisdom with human wisdom. Divine wisdom is distinct from, cannot be reconciled with, and is ultimately opposed to human wisdom. Divine wisdom has a divine origin rather than a human origin: it is revealed by the Holy Spirit and not discerned by man's efforts. Divine wisdom is rooted in and revealed in the gospel and the cross. The cross provokes us to humility and gratitude.

How Did He Do That?
How Did He Do That? From the life of Stephen, Acts 6, 7 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 It is important that we take a deep look at our lives and recognize what priorities drive us, what conclusions we arrive at, how we arrive at them, and vast difference between intention and reality. “We’ve read all the books and we still don’t do what we know we should.” 1. Stephen’s strong point was not what he could do, rather that the Holy Spirit was absolutely central in him. 2. His ministry was not a place of personal fulfillment; rather it became yet another platform for him to show the reality of the risen Christ. 3. Stephen did not ask “Where is God now that I need Him?” 4. Stephen was a giver. He showed us that the closer we get to God it is not so much a matter of what we give, rather it becomes an issue of what we no longer want to keep. 5. Stephen’s life disintegrates while God watches and he is OK with that.

Acts 16 : Kites in a Hurricane
Whether we realize it or not we are all in the midst of a hurricane – not a hurricane that is destructive, but one that is transformational. I am talking about – God's worldwide renewal movement.Hurricanes are not safe. The winds from a hurricane are unpredictable and sometimes it blows us like little kites in a direction we do not want to go. Here in Acts 16 we see Paul and his companions follow the lead of the hurricane and allow their plans and strategies to be modified when the wind blows them in a new direction. If we to do the same – we will never cease to be blown away by what God will accomplish through us!

Gospel Revolution
The world cries out for change. Everyone sees the need for some sort of revolution to put right whatever is wrong. We have had revolutions that are social, political, technological, ecological, medical, and so on through out the ages. However, we still find all the problems in the world unsolved and, seemingly, growing worse. This reason for is simple. None of these revolution address mankind 's true problem. Our problem isn't outside but within. Our natural is crooked. We need a revolution that solves the problem of sin. We need a revolution that will remove the barrier between man and God. It is just this sort of revolution we find in Acts. It is a gospel revolution.
