Sermons About Homeless
Nashville Rescue Mission
In keeping with the series on The Acts of the Holy Spirit, this is a message and report from Michael Davenport with the Nashville Rescue Mission, which is a place of action. Michael shares some of his own testimony about how he came to work with the Mission; how the Mission ministers to the downcast, and he then introduces Monti Herring, a product of the Nashville Rescue Mission who shares his testimony and a song. You will truly be blessed by both of these gentlemen and the hope they share.

Poverty of the Heart
The first step on this journey is to understand the poverty of our hearts, to search our hearts and ask why it's sometimes so difficult to help those in need. Is it selfishness and busyness? Are our minds closed to the truth of poverty? Do we avoid the hurt that comes with trying to reach out but feeling like we don't make a difference. Thank goodness for God's grace that empowers us continue our care for the broken.

God's "Whoever" Policy
Whoever...However...Whenever...Wherever. God's love for us knows no boundaries; therefore, He accepts us in whatever state we come to Him. Far too many people miss out on God's grace and forgiveness because they are unwilling to believe that He loves them that much. For many of us who have experienced His grace, we often lose sight of just who that "whoever" applies to...the homeless guy on the street; the annoying neighbor; the cruel boss... But God's "whoever" means whoever.

Am All Loving
Think of your favorite dish. Is there someone who should taste and see how good it is? God's love is like that. It has to be tasted to be believed. Sometimes it's easier to be ok with the belief that God loves the world. Yet we struggle with the idea that He loves us individually. But if He is all-loving, then I can experience His love regardless of how I feel. If God is all-loving, then I can invite other's to experience His love. Who would we be praying for?
