Kingdom Purity: God and Caesar
Luke 20:19-26 In the second of 4 controversies, the leaders of Jerusalem try to trap Jesus in the area of politics. Do you think God's people should support a pagan ruler and a wicked regime? They think they have put Jesus into corner, but His brilliant answer not only wins the day, but also instructs our hearts as we live for God in the realm of Caesar.

Take the Next Step - Pt. 4 - Serve One Another
Jesus boldly taught that how we treat others is how we ultimately treat him. How we speak to others is in essence how we speak to him. And whether or not we serve and honor others in the body of Christ proves whether or not we serve and honor him!

What's Your Story? (Romans 8:18-23, 28, 31-39)
The themes of brokenness and redemption dominate the gospel story. If we look closely at our own lives, we can spot these same themes, and maybe even Jesus too. In this sermon, Pastor Joel Lindsey tells his story in order to point to the greater story God is telling.

Mankind: Without Excuse (Romans 1:18-23)
In this section of Romans, Paul begins to demonstrate our need for the gospel. He points to God's wrath, which is God's righteous antagonism to that which is unholy and unrighteous. He proves our own unrighteousness, showing that we are many times over without excuse before God. Paul shows that our sin is a form of idolatry, giving to something else the worship and service and love that God deserves. In light of this proof of our sin, the provision of Christ as our Savior shines as a glorious and welcome hope. He came to redeem us from sin, to give us his righteousness in place of our sin and guilt. What a glorious gift this is!

The Humility of Rejoicing
Selected Scriptures On this Second Sunday of Advent we pay particular attention to the great humility displayed in the birth of the Savior. Born in an obscure village, in a cave used to house animals, Jesus the Great King was certainly not given the reception He deserved. And we learn from this that, in God's Kingdom, humility always precedes honor. We also learn that, when God dwells in the midst of humility, the humble becomes honored and exalted.

Malachi Giving God your best
It is just as true now as it was in Malachi's time. We are to honor God with our best. We are to honor God with our marriages, and we are to honor God with our money, we are to honor him with our lives because the day of the lord is coming.

Honor One Another
Our culture is very self-centered: What's most important to me is my needs, wants, & whims. In Romans 12:10, however, Paul says that Christians' priorities are supposed to be different: We're to put others' needs and wants ahead of our own.

An Appetite For God (1 Corinthians 14:12-33)
It seems that most of us have some sort of craving for the Divine, a connection with something or someone much larger than ourselves. Unfortunately, many who are hungry for God find it difficult to connect with him in Christian worship services. In this sermon, we will look at how we can daily experience God, and what it takes to foster an appetite for him.

2 Samuel 2:1-11 - A Tale of 2 Kingdoms
One needs to understand the importance of humility in leadership. This passage shows a contrast in a leaders who power is based on Humility (David) and one whose power is based on human pride and autonomy. David seeks God in his efforts to rule and while Abner and Ishbosheth seek only their own Advantage in their efforts to rule. David is a great type of a christian who that those who trust God must be humble by acknowledge sinfulness and weakness through an intimate relationship with God in prayer.

Honored and Humiliated
What kind of dance is YOUR dance? Do you tap or tango? Break dance or line dance? King David did his own dance before the Lord in the city of Jerusalem as the Ark of the Covenant was being brought in. His wife called it embarrassing, but David asserted that he was willing to be even MORE undignified because what may have felt humiliating was actually honorable in the sight of God. Are we willing to do our God-dance without shame or reservation? God's goodness is all around us. We should celebrate it!

Jehoshaphat: The Power of Leadership
Jehoshaphat's story demonstrates that God works His ways through imperfect lives. A godly king with a heart for God and His Word, Jehoshaphat nevertheless "hedged" his bets by entering into unholy alliances with the idolatrous enemies of God. His life is full of lessons about God and Man.

A Help for Moms
It's not that moms need help - they deserve help and can be helped by the aid of their children. Ephesians 6:1 tells us to obey our parents. Obey means to listen attentively then conform to that instruction. They are also deserving of honor, which is commanded in Scripture. Moms are the glue in the family, the nurturers and encouragers. Obeying and honoring our mothers pleases the Lord.
