Covenant Relationship #2
OFFERING READING; Review Last week: see if you where listening Q: What is a Covenant? A solemn agreement between the members of a church to act together in harmony….. Q: Who guarantees a Covenant and how? On Him, By Him, In Him Q: Revelation #1: So what is a Covenant Relationship? A prayerful resolve by two or more individuals to enter into a relationship agreement that is viewed as eternal (reflects heaven) and therefore worthy of everything those individuals will invest and sacrifice to maintain their relationship. I have a Challenge for you to ponder. We Americans struggle with this level of relationship agreement because? Past hurts and disappointments- God’s design was sozo, accountability, honor, and a releasing culture Our independence – God’s design was Inter-depence Self-reliance – God’s design was Co-laboring partnership Our freedom of choice – God’s design was to choose to live free Being individually empowered – God’s design was team empowerment I want to suggest that while the church is distracted with resisting the spirit of Jezebel (control) there is far greater menace loose, virtually undetected and destroying churches by the thousands called the spirit of Judas. Remember a couple of weeks ago we highlighted Judas and repentance? Greek (metamelomai) is a change of mind, such as to produce regret or even remorse on account of sin, but not necessarily a change of heart. Yellow tabs: Mt 27:3, John 12:4, John 13:29, John 18:2 Revelation #2: The spirit of Judas is characterized by: The love of WEALTH w/o vision or purpose The love of VISIBLE LEADERSHIP w/o accountability The love of ASSOCIATION (being included) w/o intimacy or responsibility Q: What is the “silver-bullet death-blow to the spirit of Judas? A: Covenant Relationship! Revelation #3: Covenant Relationship at CRCC is not about joining an ORGANIZATION it’s about coming HOME and being a viable and committed part of God’s FAMILY at this earthly address. Q: What do Covenant Relationships look like when they are active? Let’s finish this word by looking at Covenant relationships from a “functional perspective”. Last week giving….. A shepherds looks at Psalms 23….. Taking some practical quotes……. The Lord is my Shepherd 2 readings: Revelation #4: Covenant Relationships are characterized by: Valuing our RELATIONSHIPS over our organization, goals or accomplishments Creating a SAFE place to live as well as a POWERFUL place to be transformed, transfigured, translated. Our Crown Point…..experiences Ps 23 I shall not be in want, He makes me lie down in green pastures, At CRCC we will be: Choosing HONOR as our main relationship standard to work and live together Following Christ’s example by SACRIFICING for the health and welfare of my Family Following Christ’s example by FEEDING others first because I’m already cared for Giving and receiving TRUST as a precious gift to be cherished not squandered Preserving the UNITY of the Spirit over what I want when I want it because I want it Making ourselves Vulnerable to our family and ACCOUNTABLE to our leadership Creating a COMMUNITY of Intimacy not just a CHURCH of ministry Ps 23, He leads me besides quiet waters, He restores my soul…. Revelation #5: It would be impossible to BUILD AND LIVE in a supernatural COMMUNITY unless…those who are agreed enter in at a supernatural level of RELATIONSHIP. It’s the only way to take what’s DYING out there and bring it back to LIFE in here. Ps 23, He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name sake. So you are FREE TO CHOOSE! But.. if you want to be part of CRCC, you will need to come into agreement with: How we are going live together How we are going to minister to our world How we are going to build in the kingdom at CRCC while we are here on earth=Through Covenant Relationships!
