Rejoicing in the Benefits of Justification
Romans 5:1-5 There are many things in life that provide benefits - where you are born, the country you live in, the company you work for, the insurance you purchase. All of these provide benefits to us because of our membership in them. Even your marriage provides numerous benefits that we often take for granted. Unfortunately, many in our society do not fully or accurately understand the institute of marriage and the benefits that come with membership in such a union. Some of the benefits include lifelong companionship, immense happiness, the opportunity to have children, a chance to work on our selfishness through sanctification, the privilege of loving someone unconditionally from the heart, and to live out the analogy of the union of the church and Jesus Christ. But, these benefits come after marriage - not before. This makes the privileges of the church all the more amazing. As the bride of Christ, the church enjoys the benefits that come with being wed to our Lord Jesus Christ. These are the innumerable benefits of justification. Justification is the process employed by God in which He considers all of our sins to be forgiven and views those He forgives as righteous. When we are justified, God treats us as if we had never sinned at all. In today's message, Pastor Tyson teaches from Romans 5 about the benefits of justification. We see that those who have repented of their sins and through faith have been justified by the grace of God have much to rejoice in. Five benefits of justification we have that enable us to rejoice in the body of Christ include: 1. Peace with God (v. 1) 2. Access to God (v. 2a) 3. Hope in God (v. 2b) 4. Character of God (vv. 3-4) 5. Assurance in God (v. 5) Prior to justification, we are enemies of God. Indeed, before we are justified by God, He is at war with us. Are you at peace with God or are you still battling with Him? You can find your peace with Him through His son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We should thank God that He loves us enough to provide for us a means by which we can have peace with Him. It is through His only Son Jesus Christ. May we rejoice in our justification on this day as the Lord continues to pour out His blessings through His love.
