Matthew 6:2-4 (AM)
Adam preaches Matt. 6:2-4. Christ continues to warn about hypocrisy in worship by illustrating several common areas of high risk. Giving must be done, yet it must be done without the slightest hint of self-promotion.

The Consequences of False Spirituality
Luke 21:5-24 In the longer context (21:5-38) Jesus uses the destruction of Jerusalem (near future) as a preview of what to expect when He returns (far future). He shocks his disciples with a prophetic announcement that one day the Temple will be destroyed, demonstrating the perils of that hypocritical spirituality for which the Temple had become symbol. But this is only the prelude to what the final judgment will mean for all who refuse to follow the widow’s model of humble dependence upon God.

Getting To The Heart Of Hypocrisy
The word hypocrisy actually means "play-acting". We all are vulnerable to this. But what is the sin beneath hypocrisy? The answer is "dishonesty". One of the biggest accusations against Christians is that they are hypocrites. And of course that is correct. We are hypocrites. However, it is seldom pointed out that this is why we are Christians in the first place. We need Christ as our Savior. Without Christ we are all condemned to an inconsistency between word and deed. Christ is the only one who lived a perfect and consistent life.

Adam preaches Matt. 6:1. The Kingdom is a lifestyle generated by a transformed heart, not some sort of church-ianity. Christ powerfully warns about a typical setting, a temporal motive, and a tragic result of religious hypocrisy.
