Focus: To acknowledge that idolatry is deceptive, enslaving, and deadly…and the only antidote for our idolatrous heart is to flee and participate in the death and life that Christ offers in the gospel.
Throughout history, men have sought salvation in the State. Worse yet is when Christians agree with the humanists and unwittingly seek refuge in the State. Is there any area of life to which God has not spoken? If not, then are there times which we are bowing to the idol of the State?
One of the tragedies of sin in this world is the worship of idols. But what exactly is an idol? How is it that people come to worship them? Listen as pastor Lance Parrott calls us to see how the gospel shatters idols - from Mars Hill to our hearts.
We are all worshippers - it's not a religious thing, it's about being human. We all worship someone, something or some idea. We worship our way INTO sin (idolatry) and we worship our way OUT of sin (through Jesus). Where does your worship lie? What do you make sacrifices to? What problems, issues and addictions do we struggle with that are ultimately worship issues?

When we find ourselves worried and fearful we tend to run to something to fix us and save us. The question for us all is this: Where do we run? The Scriptures are clear that God is a present help in time of trouble but so often we run to lesser things, what the Bible call idols, instead of the one who can save.
What does salvation require? Do we have to do some religious acts? Do we have to preform a certain ritual? What does it take for the nations of this world to come to God? Obedience is better than sacrifice
