Sermons About Israelites
Peasant Wealth Baby
So, there they were. A bunch of homeless refugees who had been given permission to return to their homeland. Things were bad. They were really bad. The temple had been destroyed 70 years before; the wall to the city had been destroyed; the glory of the Lord had left from them. They had no hope; no future. Then something miraculous happened. A prophet named Haggai stood up. He made a bold statement: "God says you will be okay." That was it. A word from the Lord, now? After all this chaos and trouble? Didn't he abandon us a generation ago? Does he really still care about us? Haggai promised that God had plans for the Israelites, and was on a mission to restore the human race to peace. That peace is now here. And now is the time to take heart. Now is the time to work to rebuild the wall and the temple, and your lives. God is with us, now.

Holding Back From God
Holding back from God is not a new problem. The israelites did it, they would bring their leftovers to God instead of their best. Annais and Saphira didn't have to give all their money to the disciples, they did not have to lie. They wanted the status that came with giving the gift without the sacrifice. We can not lie to God and we are not to hold back from him. We hold back from God everyday by giving him the leftovers in our instead of our week. We are to no longer hold back from God.

In the Beginning, Part 2
We all want to be rescued. It is our sin that we need rescued from and the only thing that rescues us is dwelling with God! He has made us a promise that He is our God, we are His people and that He will dwell with us! Our lives are dead, formless, and void. Let us seek our dwelling place with God and live the life we were created for!

We will see through the Passover story (Exodus 12.1-13) the call to bring the Lamb into our family, homes and neighborhood. This is not just any lamb but the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, who takes away the sin of the world.

Exodus Chapter 5
God clearly gave Moses and Aaron directions to speak to Pharaoh. Or so it seemed to them. How should we respond when we are tested by God, when trials come up in the path that we know he put us on? A closer look at the life of Moses and his dealings with Pharaoh and the Israelites will teach us to trust God even more.
