God's Not on Your Side
God will not share His glory with another! In other words, Hes a jealous God. So many times in the Scriptures we see those who tried to get God on their side, to fight for their cause. But guess what? God, jealous for His own glory, doesnt take sides. He fights for Himself, stands for His glory, and isnt manipulated by our clever ploys to get Him to bless us. If God fights for His glory, our fight must be against everything in our lives that competes for worship … the Bible calls them idols.

God Is Jealous
God demands exclusive allegiance from those he loves. He is a ‘jealous’ God in this sense—the word better translated as “zealous”, meaning “passionate intensity to defend what is jeopardized”. This idea supports the commandment against idol worship—an idol being defined as “any idea, activity, or object that you value more than God”. He has every right to demand such exclusive worship from you because he saved you just as he brought the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.
