This week, Dave Robinson teaches on becoming a person of perseverance. From the time God laid it on Nehemiah's heart to rebuild the walls, he was confronted with discouragement. Yet Nehemiah persevered and continued building. Dave takes principles from Nehemiah's example and encourages us to overcome discouragement in our lives.

The Power of Teamwork
In the third chapter of Nehemiah we are not only given a detailed account of the rebuilding of the city walls, be we see how teamwork allows comon people to attain uncomon results. The details of these verses provide a remarkable illustration of how swiftly the job was completed (52 days), which is a testament to the supurb leadership and planning that was required given that the labor force was exclusively voluntary. From this, we can learn valuable organizational principles that are glorifying to the Lord. There are three principles that should characterize the work of the Lord and the building of His kingdom by the body of Christ: 1) coordination, 2) cooperation, and 3) commendation.

This series will look at different characteristics exemplified by Nehemiah as he rebuilt Jerusalem's walls following the Israelites' Babylonian Exile. This week, Pastor Dave Robinson teaches about becoming a person of passion. Although Jerusalem's walls had been broken down for nearly 150 years by the time Nehemiah heard the news, his passionate reaction and subsequent prayer set the stage for significant action. Nehemiah's example should challenge us to be people of passion who stand in the gap of problems that exist in the world today.

Becoming a Person of Burden
Throughout October and November we will be studying the book of Nehemiah in a series called "Nehemiah: Becoming a Person of ______." This series will look at different characteristics exemplified by Nehemiah as he rebuilt Jerusalem's walls following the Israelites' Babylonian Exile. This week Dave Robinson teaches about becoming a person of burden. Before Nehemiah acted, he allowed God to burden him with a need: the destroyed walls and burned gates of Jerusalem. Studying Nehemiah's example, Dave asks: "what makes you weep and pound the table?" or, "what burden or problem is yours to help solve?"
