There is a Star of Jacob
This morning, we want to highlight another prophecy about the Lord Jesus Christ found in Numbers 24:15-19, which refers to Him as the “Star of Jacob.” Considering the background of this passage, Balaam, the prophet who was hired by Balak, the frightened king of Moa, was to place a curse on the nation of Israel. This curse was designed to hinder the nation from advancing to the Promised Land. However, every time he attempted to curse the nation, the Lord intervened and put words of blessings upon them. Prior to our text, Balaam had already attempted thrice, but all those attempts failed. In Balaam’s fourth prophecy for Israel, we find the reference concerning the Messiah as the star of Jacob. What do you think is the significance of this title regarding the coming Messiah?

THERE IS A SAVIOR
As we approach the Christmas season once again, we decided that for our main sermon series, we will be moving away from the usual passages of the Nativity in the books of Matthew and Luke. Instead, we will focus on some major Old Testament prophecies about the birth of Jesus Christ into the world. I have entitled our series, Christmas from the Old Testament. I believe this will be beneficial for all of us for two important reasons. 1. It can magnify the fact that Jesus is the central theme of the entire Bible. 2. It can magnify the fact that the plan of salvation was never an afterthought of God.
