Disregard the Evidence
Do we see the beauty, mystery, and mercy with which God surrounds us—or only the problems in our lives? A folk proverb says, “90% of what a person sees lies behind the eyes.” It’s hard to see the big picture when our immediate problems consume us. And, even if we can’t change things, we want to understand them. Why do the wicked prosper and the innocent suffer? Why does a young mother get cancer? Why are people starving in some parts of the world, while others of us suffer the effects of overeating? Are some more deserving of life than others? Why? Why?

Job and Jesus
The story of Job show the life of a human being who pleased God and was considered to be prefect in his generation. As we examine the story we regularly find fault but we need to remember that Job is a fore-running type of Christ and the level of suffering that he endured is only a shadow of the suffering that Jesus subsequently endured.

How To Hurt Your Friends
In the midst of his suffering, Job has 4 friends who travel to be with him. For seven days they sit together in silent sympathy. Job speaks from his pain, and his friends begin to speak. That is when they become "miserable comforters." Learn how not to further hurt people in pain.

Searching For God in Your Darkness
