Intro to the Gospel of John
It is one of the most profound pieces of literature in recorded history. It is the pivot point of the Christian faith and it was written by the elder statesman of a church facing deep theological and moral questions. The gospel of John is a simple, but profound apologetic for the deity of Christ. In this message, we share the history, purpose, and outline of the gospel of John.

Philosophy
The Ridge Church lives to glorify God – loving Jesus, loving people and seeing lives transformed to live for Jesus. We have been called to live this out globally and locally (the mission) and we have essential beliefs as we move down the highway of life, that we hold dear to, so we do not get off focus and fall away. To help us stay focused and on mission we must have a system of values and principles by which we live and function by as a church, a philosophy - in ministry it is important to have the right mindset and attitude toward how things should be done.

Half Full
We have been called as whole people (our lives - mental, emotional, pysical and spiritual). That is, we have been called as God's people to be those through whom God works to bless the world. What does it mean to begin practicing this way of life? Where is your cup half full? Where does God need to pour in more wholeness in the kind of follower you are?

Stretched
Sermon Two Part Two: The boy who gave his seemingly insignificant lunch to Jesus found out that it was really significant. In the hands of Christ it was multiplied-stretched. In God's hands we are stretched. NIV John 6:1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), 2 and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick. 3 Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4 The Jewish Passover Feast was near. 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!" 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, 9 "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" 10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. 14 After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." I. Strategic Position II. Strategic People III. Their Role is to Bless You IV. They Bless You by Stretching You ** Illustration: Everyone given a piece of Bubble Gum during the offering time. During the sermon I will ask them to blow a bubble which will symbolize being stretched.

The Gift of Community (1 John 1:1-7)
Christian community is built around our shared experience of the gospel. Community always begins with God, and God gives us community as a means of transforming our lives more and more into the image of his son. However, community is not merely a tool for growth, but also a gift from God for our joy as well as for our good.

The Word of Victory
Famous Last words "The Word of Victory" John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Tetelestai= This Greek word speaks of something being finished, completed, or accomplished. As we observe this cry from the cross we see: 1. Completion Christ was declaring that: * He had fulfilled the words foretold by the prophets. * He had finished the work of salvation. 2. Conquest On the cross Christ gained victory over: * Society * Sin * Satan 3. Commitment This involved Christ's: * Obedience to the Father

Relentless Determination
After Jesus struggled in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, he was determined to go all the way—to die for your sin on Calvary. In John chapter 18, there are groups and individuals, each one with their own agenda, with the potential to hinder Jesus from accomplishing his mission: the Roman army, a religious delegation, Judas, Peter, and John. But God, in his sovereign power and relentless determination, carried out his plan to offer his son as your sacrifice in spite of the failures of these groups and individuals. Today, he is as determined to keep you as his child in spite of your own failures.

Naked Grace, Dressed Works
We’re learning that if we think we’re full without Him we’re actually starving. If we think we can see without Him we’re actually blind. If we think we are quenched without Him we’re actually thirsty. If we’ think we’re alive without Him we’re actually dead. And this week we’ll come to see that if we think we have peace without Him we’re actually condemned.

Jesus knew why He was on earth. It was to do the will of the Father. Doing the Father's will was completely satisfying. What is it that we are about?
