Sermons About Just
An Inviting Community
These days, there is an appetite for spirituality and a distaste for "church." Is this really what God wanted? The church was intended to be a dynamic, life-giving movement of people who experience and extend the love of God together. In fact, Jesus said that you can't be spiritual on your own, that the spiritual life is something we do together. If you catch a glimpse of God's dream for doing life together, we are convinced you'll never want anything less.

Just Ask ... ?
We witness it nearly every day…the sacriï¬ces that good parents make for their children. The ï¬nancial and time commitments that go into raising healthy kids are HUGE but you seldom hear a parent complain! Jesus points out the best of our traits as earthly parents and then draws a comparison…if this is how good moms and dads look after their children... how much more will your heavenly Father...? How much have we understood about the Father’s generous heart toward His children? Will we trust? Do we believe? Will we be bold enough to ask? Key Passage: Matthew 7:7-12

2 Samuel 23:1-7 - Last Words Looking Forward
Last words are funny things. Not everyone gets a chance to give them, but David's last words (whether they are what he spoke or his last will and testament, I do not know) are recorded in Chapter 23 for us. The unique thing that differs from other last words in the Old Testament is that David was trying to anticipate the future. It is not a blessing about a person but a prophecy about a kingdom. Chapter 22 looks back upon how Yahweh established the kingdom and chapter 23 looks forward to how Yahweh will consummate the kingdom. David's last words help all of us over come a confidence problem we have with the future and especially Biblical prophecy. Verses 1-7 center around a just ruler that perfectly fears the Lord, which is none other than Jesus Christ Himself, as the Writer gives you 3 characteristics of His final kingdom: Certainty, Attractiveness, and Exclusiveness. As you listen to the sermon I pray that you will start or recommit yourself to see Christ as the center of your confidence in Scripture. May you see Christ as the preeminent figure in your understanding of the future kingdom of God.

The Gospel: God's Power for Salvation (Romans 1:16-17)
We should not feel ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for salvation; because it is for everyone; and because it reveals and provides the righteousness of and from God that is necessary for us to be accepted by God. Apart from the gospel we have no hope, but for everyone who believes, the gospel is a sure and certain and powerful hope, providing for our greatest need.

Abraham's Faith: Fabrication or Failure
We're not perfect: you know it, your spouse knows it, your friends know it, your parents know it, your pastor knows it. We have to face it. No matter how many times we fail, or make something up, God is there to welcome us back. Pastor Duane looks at this truth in the light of Abraham's life.
